 Classic 80s kids tv

MCoG is one of the all time classic 80s kids tv programmes. There are two types of 80s cartoon fan imo - the ones that remember MCoG and think it is up there with the best and those that don't remember it!

The series tells of the adventures of the children Esteban, Zia and Tao as they travel across the Americas searching for one of the lost cities of gold. Some of the events are based on some of the myths and history of the Americas and Polynesia. Esteban and Zia seek their respective fathers and Tao is trying to discover the history of his people of Hiva, the lost kingdom of the Pacific.

The series also had some mini documentaries to accompany the cartoon/anime and with the fantastic accompanying music they are gripping even now to adults and will inspire the imagination. Most people may well remember the series for its magnificent flying golden condor.

There is little comparison to this series in anything else of its era and deserves to be as well known as the other top 80s cartoons! I look forward to an actual DVD release and hope the documentaries are included!

It is often the case that kids' TV shows from the past turn out to be pretty awful when watched later. Happily, this series about a young Spanish boy heading off to the New World in search of treasure still stands up today, The animation may be rather basic, but the storyline certainly keeps your interest.

Thank you God! After signing petitons and waiting for years, having seen loads of classic 80's tv series come out on dvd, the greatest one of all is now going to see the light of day! The Mysterious Cities of Gold is such an amazing adventure set over 39 thrilling episodes which stands out because it's got so much packed in to it. What with the history of the incas(Which is enough to make anyone want to go to Peru!) combined with non stop adventure which includes an amazing golden condor which flys with the children inside it,this box set will show you why so many people say it's the greatest cartoon ever made! Also the way it isn't really childish and can appeal to adults is excellent. If it was made in to a film and done right it would be up there with Lord of the rings!
I can now finally say every classic 80's tv series is available to buy! Well done to everyone for all their hard work to make this possible! Enjoy!

If MCoG had been a religion, I would have become a priest!

It seems that the best has been left to last. I still have the video tapes I used to record it off the bbc in 1986! They were so sacred to me that I have not dared touch them in years; all I had to remind me of those great days was some low quality rips that have been circulating over the past few years. Now it is finally here, remastered on 6 DVDs.
Being from the early 80s the quality of the print is not great, showing many artifacts from the original cell work, thus it could do with a little computer magic to make it even better than the original. Nonetheless, the quality is fine and they have done an ace job with the soundtrack, you almost can't tell its mono. I'm glad the stories circulating some time ago that the English Master tape had been lost was unfounded. Dvds include some fabulous extras including interviews with the main English cast.
Pass the word to a new generation!

I thought I was dreaming when I found out about this!
So many of my favourite cartoons have been released over the years such as Ulysses31, Thundercats, Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors, Visionaries etc, but couldn't find any info of a DVD release of MSoG. I had been searching online for ever (as have countless other!) for the MSog DVD and finally it is arriving!
I first watched MSoG on the BBC as a kid way back in 1986 and was instantly hooked. I do remember it being repeated 2 or 3 years later, but that was it, they never showed it again :-(
Anyone who watched it back then would tell you that they wished they had a Golden Condor....I know I did! I have to say that out of all the cartoons I have watched over the years, my favourite was always MSoG (followed of course by Thundercats....Lion-O Hoooo!!)
