I had heard of this film for along, long time and for some reason I never really thought about buying it until I began to read all the reviews in the film magazines and them saying its a classic so I thought ok why not....it was the best choice I made....after seeing so many horror films this film blow me again I could not believe how amazingly over-the-top it was with the gore and effects (fantastic...the classic eyes bursting at the beginning WOAW), Bruce Abboat is wicked as Dan but for me the person who sold the film but his brillaint and unforgettable performance is Jeffrey Combs aka Herbert West the nutty doctor who can bring the dead back to live with his re-agent but with slight side-effects. This bucket full of gore is timeless classic directed by Staurt Gordon who the cast say that on the film he always says "more is not enough".
The special features disc is fantastic over an 90 minutes indepth making off the Re-Animator with cast and crew talking about the classic gorefest with great behind the scene's photo's and much, much more.

For years I have resisted watching this movie, I knew it was supposed to be good, but it just passed me by.
So now 22 years after it's release I have managed to bring myself to watch it. What a brilliant film!
The film is as good as every body says. It's very gory and very funny. The plot is very silly but also very clever, with things getting out of hand as the dead come back to life. The film reminds me of Return Of The Living Dead in it's comic approach. Anybody who has not seen this classic, don't make the mistake I made, and buy this film now. This is a film no horror fan should be without.
Bloody Brilliant!

Another great release from Anchor Bay. Re-animator, along with films such as Evil Dead is one of the most important low budget horror films of the 1980s, and this is the perfect DVD release to showcase its brilliance.

Directed by first time director Stuart Gordon, the film masterfully blends disgusting but inventive scenes of horror with hilariously subtle comedy. The narrative moves along at a great pace with wonderfully executed performances by an underrated cast.

The extras on this release are a prime example of how extras should be on all DVD releases. The 70 minute documentary is a highly detailed account on the making of the film which gives great insight into the production process of a low budget feature. Other features include interviews, extended and deleted scenes, and a whole host of other fun and useful additions to a great film.

Fans of Sam Raimi, George Romero and Peter Jackson will no doubt be reading this review having already added this fantastic DVD to their collection. An essential purchase.

It's been a while coming but finally this horror gem from the 1980's can finally be enjoyed in all its gory glory. With a tongue firmly lodged in it's cheek and bucketfuls of fake blood painting the screen red this is a flick that deserves to be rediscovered. And what better way than with this superb 2 disc set from Anchor Bay. Interviews, commentaries, deleted scenes and a fantastic 70 minute documentary this has it all. And the movie has lost none of it's charm, if that's the correct term, with zombie cats, dead bodies, glowing syringes, a creepy performance from Jeffery Combs and a truly disgusting use for a severed head it's fun all the way to the morgue with this one...
