Top 10 DVD Reviewer
Being an avid collector of Sci-Fi Movies and reading the various reviews for AvP2,
I found that I was not in any rush to purchase this title, now I wish that I had brought it sooner. AvP2 is a very entertaining flick. I agree that the actors aren't anything special and that the movie is Dark, but its nothing like what other reviewers are saying.
What this film offers is more focus on the aliens and the Predator the human characters don't have much to do with the film, Its moments when you think some minor character development is going on only to have them killed off shortly after, No Victim has been left out in this movie either, everything from a young boy to pregnant women getting the Alien treatment, there is also plenty of gore from your typical Alien chestburster to Heads being blown off by the Predators weapons. This film does start of a little slow but it soon picks up the pace with non stop relentless action. Like the First AvP movie this film also has links to the Weyland Yutani Corp.
AvP2 is more about the Aliens and the Predator, the human cast are just there to be killed off and don't play any major role in the film except to be hosts to the Aliens, If you want it to be compared to the first AvP, I would say that the First AvP was more focused on character development and less about the aliens and predators, probably because of the amount they had to pay to its cast members, where AvP2 has forgone getting big name actors and spent its budget on the Aliens and Predators, AvP2 has a lot more Action and stays faithful the AvP universe.
Plotless rubbish

I have been a big fan of all the Alien ang Predator films since the beginning, and after the success of the 1st AVP, i couldn't wait to see this one - but believe me - its a huge let down. It is almost as if the produces couldn't be bothered and decided instead on a plotless, cliched, confusing pointless violence filled attempt. The whole film is just messed up and all over the place from the beginning, wiht no real direction/aim. It barely manages to lead on from the 1st AVP, and if you like a film with no story, mindless violence that makes no sense every 4 seconds, then this is for you. Seriously, i came out of the cinema utterly confused, not even with the ability to give the names of any character in the film - and that's a bad sign in any film. BIG disappointment.
awesome

I'm mad on both alien and predator and I watched this film with no preconceptions. I wasn't expecting the nerve destroying tension the alien series delivered so much as the action I got from predator 1 + 2. 100% entertaining if you like this sort of thing, which i do. It looks awesome on a huge TV too.

I was sooooo dissapointed by this movie, and yes, it is the death of the franchise.
FIrst of all, im not a big fan of horror movies, and really never watched alien or prreadtor series before ( im a big chicken =P), but i was pretty impressed by AVP 1, actually finding it to be a decently watchable action, and it did a pretty cool job of buildin a storyline up.
This however, was garbage.
To begin with, in five minutes it completely ruined the storyline with multiple contradictions ( like, why, if the predator is trying to remain inconspicous, does he kill and skin a police officer??? =S )
The cliches became endless, the plotholes widened, and soon it was more laughable than scary, at some points it was just disgusting more than anything else ( bit in the maternaty ward)
FInnally, it has, without doubt, THE WORST ending i have seen since no country for old men
what can i say?!

I was Utterly dissappointed by the newest edition of the Aliens/Predator films. Not only has it got a Terrible story line, but an even worse ending! It seems that the director and Story writers were over powered by the first AVP and felt pressured to do better, which is nigh on impossible. so you cant blame them entirely.
Although, if your into Explosions, fighting, shooting and watching people get slaughtered then go for it. If not, then dont waste your money.
death of a franchise

What a shocking film. It's not often that I really dislike a film but this one really has killed off all that was so cool about the 2 franchise.
The rot really set in partly with no 3 then resurrection with that absurd monstrosity of a hybrid. The first AvP was a joke where it turned the whole 'alien' lifecycle upside down but this takes the biscuit.Don't be fooled by some reasonable reviews - this film sucks for all those with a reasonable love of the series!!.
The acting is lame, the set pieces shrouded in poor lighting and lightning edits. The whole lifecycle sequence is now a farce and the nods to the previous films are clumsy and inappropriate.Unless you are exceptionally bored i would avoid ruining your memories and expectations with this.
Sorry - I so wanted to like this!!!
What happened?

its a great film but lacks in bright ness its too dark if you were in a room watching this movie youd turn out the lights for a better movie exsperiance but youd have to have the light on and the curtains open and still not good enough explains my 4/5 it not worth any more

This movie absolutely ignores the rules of Alien - i.e. never to let the Alien reach Earth - now it has and was easily defeated. Atleast in AVP you could argue the creature was confined by the artic ice. This installment is tedious to watch and what would Sigourney think all those years ahead in 2040 (or some distant time like that) fighting to save earth from an Alien that landed on earth (according to this movie) in 2007/8. Rubbish!!
