Wasnt very good. Just watch the trailer coz it tell you the whole story in about 2 mins and makes it look better than it is. Not very good at all. Very very predictable.
Not the absolue worst, but definately not up there...

Glad I waited til the price was down to a fiver on this one before buying. Although there are a few parts of the movie that are slightly spooky, I think these are all the bits shown on the trailer and if you are expecting more from a movie than the regular odd scares, this may not be for you. The basic plot... married couple breakdown and conveniently are close to a motel which has a vacancy. They check in, get bored and put on a video tape lying in the room. Turns out, freakily enough that the cheap slasher flicks they are watching appear to have been made in the exact room they are sitting. Spooky!!! From their they get very scared and things get worse for them!! Like i said above, not the absolute worst scary movie in the world, but it's definately not up there with the best of them!!
YOU CAN CHECK IN, BUT YOU CAN'T CHECK OUT!

Top 10 DVD Reviewer
This is a pretty good little thriller, that has some great moments of tension. As a couple spend a night in a run down motel, owned by a guy who looks and acts like Ned Flanders from the Simpsons. They soon find out they they are going to be the stars of a snuff film.
Vacancy has a short running time, so the film is never dull, and watching the couple think on there feet to try and survive the night makes for a very entertaing film. But there are plot holes big enough to drive a truck through and the ending that seems very rushed and abrupt, and this tends to spoil what could have been a great thriller.
It's worth a watch, but nothing special.
Vacancy will leave you Ummmm.....Vacant!!!!!!

Don't waste you're money! Potentially could have been a good film but the villains were unrealistic & the ending was rushed, producers probably felt like us and just said 'just get it over with'. A lot more time & effort was needed, Kate Beckinsale should have got into her 'underworld' persona and eliminate the producers & directors, now that would have been more ENGAGING!!!
Switch your brain off

Bought this film because it was cheap, the trailer looked good and I liked the 'hook' it had.
You really need to know 2 things before watching this film:-
1) ALL characters in this film do at least one thing where you will say "that makes no sense"
2)If you go into this film trying to pick holes in it,you will find hundreds
I thought the film was maybe ok at best, but I was disappointed with the way events occurred and then were immediately discarded.Really hard to explain without spoiling it for people who haven't seen it yet.
Probably good for a night in with a few friends and drinks to switch your brain off,but not good if you like your scary films challenging.....or scary
Great

What i like about this film is the fact that the storyline is different to your normal horror movie. A couple in a run down motel realising that the slasher movies they are watching took place in the very room they are staying. Now they are the next targets. Brialliant!

Quite a few people have slated Vacancy but i really enjoyed it. I liked the idea of a separated couple forced into stopping overnight at some run down motel, out in the middle of nowhere and being terrorised by the freaky owner and his staff. The 'home video' was a truly scary concept, i mean, imagine watching what you first think is a low budget exploitation film, only to realise that it's been filmed in the very same room! The scenes of people being overwhelmed and then murdered are scary as hell. It's a great film that admittedly uses common ideas from other films, but hey, if it isn't broken then why try and fix it?
Hmmm

Its like every other horror film. Totally predictable, not scary, and to be honest boring! I really wouldnt consider buying this.
A strong contender for the worst film I have ever seen.

If you like 'Saw', you'll hate this!
This film is as scary as 'Barny and Friends' and equally as predictable.
I actually sat in the cinema and laughed at it, it really is that predictable and unbelievable. I mean come on, the man out runs a car, if he can do that, why does he not just run away?
It's a collection of a number of great horrors and thrillers made into one utterly appauling film. It takes aspects from 'Saw', 'Psycho' and a typical teen slasher.
This is a cheesy, predictable, badly made film.
Oh... And it isn't the least bit scary either.

Both Kate Beckinsale and Luke Wilson were great in this mediocre film. My girlfriend was scared easily by this and walked out halfway through it, but it isn't that scary at all. I did find the guy who owned the Motel creepy though!
