Review

Walter Sparrow (Carrey) is a middle-aged dogcatcher whose wife Agatha (Madsen) has bestowed him with an obscure mystery novel detailing the investigation launched by a tough-talking gumshoe named Fingerling (also Carrey) whose every move seems to be overshadowed by the number 23. After noting a series of alarming parallels shared between the fictional detective and himself, Walter is quickly drawn in to the story. His mind fast descending into a dark and violent whirlwind of madness, Walter enlists the aid of Agatha and the pair's adolescent son Robin (Logan Lerman) in seeking out the author of the mysterious tome and uncovering the sinister truth behind the enigma.

I can't understand how any film lover could not enjoy this film. Even just by watching the bonus features you can see how well this film was thought out. Like many have said, I believe that critics didn't like the fact that Carrey was doing something different to Ace Ventura or The Maskand they didn't know what to think. He is absolutely amazing in this film! The way he portrays two completely different characters is fascinating to watch. Critics should look beyond the ends of their own noses and actually take a film for what it is, and not look for what they perceive to be the way someone 'should' act.

If you love intelligent thrillers then I think you'll love this.

Customer rating: 5 out of 5 stars paranoid number???

Jim carrey plays Walter sparrow, an obsessed man by the number 23 after reading a book about the number. after watching this i found myself and freinds at work adding numbers to come up with the number 23.. it will make you so paranoid its unreal. this fllm is dark and at times confussing, but stick with it and when the twist happens at the end its a nice shock.. no spoiler here.. watch and find out.. then feel the paranoid thoughts creeping in.. even your birthday date will be added up..
