After her father dies in a horse riding accident, a displaced city girl named Cheryl is sent to live with a foster family on a large farm in the country where the gruff patriarch takes her in as one of his own. It's here that Cheryl meets the farm's magnificent horse - named after the titular steed from her favourite book. With the help of the family's free spirited son, Cheryl learns to face her fear of horses and race once again. But just as she starts to rebuild her life, the corrupt Mayor conspires to take the farm away from her new family. Now it's up to Cheryl - and Black Beauty - to save those she has come to love.
