One of the best films you will see, great acting and story.
And you will either love or hate the ending.

I really wanted to like this film. I had heard great things about it from some of my mates, who are usually fairly reliable, but I was sorely disappointed. For me, Tommy Lee Jones (who I am a fan of) was completely ineffectual in his role, and the whole film felt very quiet and 'flat'. The film is very quiet with no sound for periods of time, and sometimes that can be good, but I just felt bored here. I usually like a bit of a soundtrack to a film, after all, what film would Titanic be without Celine Dion's 'My heart will go on'?, or Footloose without, errrrmmmm, 'Footloose'. But this might not be important to some people. What will be important, is that the ending is SOOOOO disappointing. The killer has a car accident, asks a kid in the vicinity for his shirt, walks away and Tommy Lee (the sherriff) ends up just chatting about a dream he once had!!!! :/ (wow). Not that I'm a professional reviewer, but I usually rate movies out of ten, and I gave this 2 out of 10. The reason I gave it 2 stars was purely and simply for the bad guy, as he delivers a good performance as a soulless, psychopath. This I'm afraid was the only good thing about the movie, and I felt robbed of 2 hours of my life. I was actually 'clock watching', waiting for it to end! And just to give you an indication, I don't often say that as I am passionate about movies, and I always set out with an open mind. In short....sucky sucky!!

Okay, this is no Fargo, but what film is?

It is however, a gripping game of chess between two great characters. The bad guy will go down in movie history as one of the greats. It is also a flick that is chock full of tention.

People who do not 'get' this film should stick with WWE, Jean Claude Van Damme and interbreeding.

Very good show i must say. The acting is this film has been the best i have seen in a long time, especially from the guy who played the villain, he was superb. Great story and all i can say is give this film a go. The villain still plays in my mind, he will go down as one of the best villains in movie history.

I disagree with most of the below. This film offered something different for a change. It has been a welcome addition in my collection. A great sometimes gory cat and mouse chase through out the film, i'd hate to be chased by the psycho but you need to see it to feel it. If you were in the shoes of the guy who found the stash you would do the same!!!!! If in doubt rent but if you take a chance you never know what life may throw at you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is one of the worst movies I have seen in a long time,the storyline is mediocre but the ending is very dissapointing, first time I watched it, I found it difficult to stay awake, couldnt wait for the ending credits the second time

I picked this up after hearing great reviews, the title 'no country for old men' did not sound like someting that would be in my dvd colelction! I was pleasantly surprised - well directed, acting is excellent - the only reason i could not give it 5 stars is the abrupt ending and slightly prolonged middle of the movie segment - not a world beater, i would recommend renting as opposed to purchasing..

To those who say that this film is boring and not worthy of oscars should do themselves a favour and remain home with spiderman and transformers, this film is not a blockbuster, what were you expecting?? The hero to stroll in at the end and save the day?? Read a book!! This film is mesmorising, and matures with further viewings. Without a doubt, a worthy oscar winner. The films story is not a straight forward chase flick, so you can see why it was condemned by some, but more a meditation upon the clouded morality of the human condition!! The message is potent, the binary opposition of good vs evil is defied by suggesting that no man is 'good' and it becomes 'acceptable' vs evil. To give credit to those who were disappointed, you need to appreciate the book as a piece of literature before you can appreciate this as a film-making triumph. The oscars have a habit of making mistakes, forrest gump over pulp fiction anyone?? But this year, they nailed it, a spectacular film that shall mature into a classic.

This film is not pointless.
This film dares to ask questions and do things with story and structure that most films wouldn't.
Yes, I admit I was a little baffled when I saw it in the cinema, and had actually drifted off a tad when the ending came. But that is part of the beauty. It is unconventional; it does things you don't expect, it toys with your presumptions of what a film should do.
The film - like the book - makes points about life, death, and the in-between, along the lines of "If they don't get you one way, they'll get you another".

It's definitely worth watching - in fact one I feel compelled to watch again - and will, hopefully, make you think.

I found this film pointless and a waste of money, went to see this with some friends after hearing about all the awards it had won - i was very let down and would advise every one 2 stay away from this movie! The story line was pointless and the ending was rubbish left the cinema along with many other people thinking about the lack of ending and asking each other is that it? When the film had finshed! If you like a film where people shot each other then this is for you if you like a story avoid this film, i do not know how it won awards and was up 4 nomination!!! The only award this film desreves is worst film of 2008!
