This was a wonderful thought provoking film.

This film proves that life after going to war isn't as easy as some people believe.

Well done to all involved.

This is the written review that appeared on Play.com. I have put in brackets what I think as well after watching this film. If you want the full synopsis carry on regardless.
Nearing the end of their tour of Iraq, four American soldiers {I would say there were more than 4} are sent on one last humanitarian mission that sees them ambushed, taking heavy losses, with the troops suffering physical and psychological injuries {Logical}.
Samuel L. Jackson stars as Will Marsh, a doctor tormented by the lives he could not save {We are given to believe most of the way through the film that Sam L was traumatized because of the ambush}, returning home to a son who now hates him {acts as though he hated him from birth} for going and a wife who is struggling to understand him.
Living in the same town, driver Vanessa Price (Jessica Biel) has lost her right hand in the ambush and now finds herself having to face the emotional and physical readjustment that her wounds carry. Army specialist Curtis (50 Cent) Jackson {specialist at what?} is haunted by the killing of an Iraqi woman {he actually killed her at the time} and unable to cope with the rage inside when he returns home to his friends {who also finds it difficult to act convincingly}. Finally, Brian Presley is the combat soldier whose best friend dies in his arms {best friend was dead before he got to him}, and who ultimately feels compelled to go back to war and support his comrades in their fight. For all, coming home is the real battle.
One star is all I could muster having sat through this and wondered, Why? Why did they make this film? was it because Sam L was available and had a spare few days to knock out an American propaganda film about the occupation of a country and how bad everyone feels and how everybody hurts.
If you were expecting to watch an action film, forget it.
If you were expecting to watch a film about how right it was for the USA to invaid Iraq, another no no
If you were expecting to watch a film about sentimentality and the how worthless the occupation of a Country that does not need anyone's help, once again another definite no.
It is a film that briefly touches the life of four people, who could have been any four soldier's from anywhere, that have come home to face their friends and family that do not understand how traumatic how conflict and war can be.
The problem with this film, is that it was nothing special and another run of the mill US/Iraq film. Put a great actor like Sam L in any war/conflict movie and it will sell plenty of seats, selling seats does not mean that the film will be great, it means that it brings a film up from poor to just average.

If you are going to watch this film thinking it's going to a action packed war movie, then I'm sorry to say you will be very, very disappointed!
But on the other hand, if you want to see a thought provoking film about the lasting effects of combat on the modern day soldier, that has superb acting, then you will get the most out of the melodrama.
The film really does hammer home the disturbing affects war can have on a person. Samuel L.Jackson is as excellent as ever, but the real suprise comes from Jessica Biel, proving she is not just a pretty face and is a really good actress. Even 50 Cent is good. The only thing that lets the film down is it's very sombre tone, although I guess you could not have a film about such a seriouse subject matter like this and it turn out to be a barrel of laughs. But the film at times is plodding and gets nowhere fast, it feels almost like a TV movie movie in parts.
But the film does give a even handed point of view on such a hot potato subject.
This is a very worthy and thought provoking movie, but don't let the packaging on the DVD case miss-lead you, This is a drama and not, I repeat not a blood and thunder war movie.
The film does prove that the scars of war never can heal!

This is a really powerful film centering around the aftermath of being a soldier in iraq and how they reintegrate into society after their ordeal. A really moving and well presented film i thought - makes you really appreciate what these men do for us. Hard turths here but that's what makes it so gripping. Samuel L Jackson, is as always, in my opinion, outstanding.
