One of the all time greats... the story is fascinating, there is action, creepy parts and loads and loads of atmosphere. You're just totally emersed and it's one of those films you just can't stop thinking about afterwards. A real good adults fairytale!

 A Perfect Slice Of Cultura

I am studying Spanish at A Level and i decided to watch this film for language listening practice.
I basically forced my family to watch it with me and they were very apprehensive at first, but at the end i was informed that they all LOVED it :) (including my 4 year old sister, 13 year old sister and 11 year old brother)
Its cultural, gruesome, historical, fun and most of all magical! One of my favourite Spanish films of all time!
Buy it you'll love it!

Superb film. Some parents reckon this to be a kids movie. IT IS NOT!!!!! Very dark story telling and fantasy. The acting is superb and menacing at all times. I just love this film and even feel like watching it right now again. Awesome!

 FANTASTIC!!!

Watched this film at school in media and having not seen it before was anxious to see how i coped with subtitles. The fact is you dont even need the subtitles its that good.

A brilliant story line and well worth the money.

a dark tale, where fantasy meets reality. strange combination but very intruiging. not innocent at all, as all of del toro's movies: there's always a twitch....

 Brilliant!!

 BEST FILM EVER

I think this film is one of the greatest made, its so emotional it made me want to cry, (and I never cry at films, NEVER.) and beautiful, this film made me so devastated that Del Toro was dropping out of the Hobbit, because if they made it like this it would be the greatest film ever. Dark, twisted and enchanting, best film ever. Period.

 thrilling.

this was the first guillermo del toro film I watched and afetr this,I was hooked! a lot of his films are very dark and involve a lot of imagination and dreams. This particular one is quite sad that she would have to go to such extremes to step away from the real world, some of the things she dreamed still haunt me-such as the man who eats children,he really freaked me out! it is a tale of injustice and made me thankful that I dont have to live with a man to call father just because he has a lot of money.even though she is an actress,i find the little girl in the movie very brave.altogether a fab movie and is a must see even though it is quite old.-Laura
