A man who may or may not be Jason Bourne (Matt Damon) is found floating in the Mediterranean Sea and is hauled onto a fishing boat. When the ship's doctor examines the unconscious castaway, he discovers two bullet wounds and an implanted device that displays a Swiss bank account number. With nothing but this code, the amnesiac Bourne travels to Zurich and gains access to a safe-deposit box containing a gun, thousands of dollars in various currencies, and valid passports from numerous countries - each listing a different identity. Within minutes, Bourne is on the run from a seemingly ever-present agency, relying on language and fighting skills he didn't even know he possessed!

Offering $20,000 for a ride to Paris, Bourne gains the reluctant help of the nomadic Marie (Franka Potente). Meanwhile, the shadowy organization, headed by a tough-talking bureaucrat (Chris Cooper), sends numerous assassins (including the Professor, played by Clive Owen) after Bourne and Marie. As their situation grows more perilous, the two strangers struggle to find out who Bourne really is and why they are being hunted...

A fresh look at the secret agent genre. In terms of realism, it blows James Bond out of the water.

An in depth plot, incredible lead character, and lots of intense action. One of Matt Damons best films.

 thrill packed

I can't lie the first time i saw this i wasn't blown away. But i believe in having a 2nd bite at the cherry, Without doubt this is a very very good film well shot with brilliant car chases. I can't add much more to this than the other people reviewing it except this is well worth £6 and more!

Blockbusting, breathtaking Genre Defining Action Thriller

Opening with a moody rain lit sequence in which a near death Bourne is pulled from the ocean looking like someone has pulled Sam Fisher out of the Splinter Cell Video game... Clearly a spy he has no memory of who or what he is.

The first incling Bourne gets is following the only clue to his existance, is when he is challenged that he reacts with a skill and force that will blow you away. The hand to hand combat in this movie really is fantastic and believable.

Brilliant car chases, music and the rusky European look and cars adds to the films character. You will fear Jason Bourne, like no other action star, get on the wrong side of him and you know that without question he would put you down in less than a second.

Matt Damon though as the forgetful spy is brilliantly cast and is the most human an action man can be... Plus the breathtaking fall from the top of a flight of spiral stairs whilst nailing a headshot is the most outrageous piece of action I have ever, ever seen. Brilliant

what a superb reinvention of the spy/thriller drama.saw this at the cinema on its release in 2002.had read the robert ludlum novels but didnt think matt damon was right for the part.wrong age, wrong build.boy was i wrong.damon aquits himself in visceral, violent action scenes that were excellent.barely pausing for breath the whole film rockets along till its fluffy but unresolved conclusion which lightens the tone a little.dark, edgy, tense, well acted by all.after this i did not know if the remaining books would be filmed, thankfully they were.
