Invasion Of The Body Snatchers (1956): Plant-like extraterrestrials have invaded Earth, replicating the villagers in giant seed "pods" and taking possession of their souls while they sleep. Soon the entire town is overwhelmed by the inhuman horror, but it won't stop there. In a terrifying race for his life, Dr. Bennell escapes to warn the world of the deadly invasion of the pod people!

The Thing From Another World (1951): Artic researchers discover a huge, frozen spaceling inside a crash-landed UFO, then fight for their lives after the murderous being emerges from icy captivity. Will other creatures soon follow? The famed final words of this film are both warning and answer: "Keep watching the skies!"

The Incredible Shrinking Man (1957): Almost beyond the imagination . . . A strange adventure into the unknown !

This Island Earth (1955): It's death rays, mutant bugs, college sweethearts turned nuclear fission experts and a visit to planet Metaluna via spaceship in this 1955 science fiction film which is now regarded as the archetypal sci-fi flick of the Fifties.

The Creature From The Black Lagoon (1954): Scientists drug and capture the creature, who becomes enamored with the head scientist's female assistant. The lonely creature, "a living amphibious missing link," escapes and kidnaps the object of his affection. Chief scientist then launches a crusade to rescue his assistant and cast the ominous creature back to the depths from where he came.

It Came From Outer Space (1953): Amateur astronomer John Putnam and his fiancée Ellen Fields are stargazing in the desert when a spaceship bursts from the sky and crashes to the ground. Just before a landslide buries the ship, a mysterious creature emerges and disappears into the darkness. Of course, when he tells his story to the sheriff (Charles Drake), John is branded a crackpot; but before long, strange things begin to happen, and the tide of disbelief turns.

Tarantula (1955): Even Science was stunned!

Amazing Boxset of True Sci- Fi Classics

This is a phenomenal boxset of classic B movies from the fifties. this is essential for any fan of sci-fi, with some of the greatest movies all in one set. such as invasion of the body snatchers, creature from the black lagoon, the thing from another world and it came from outer space. the only thing i can think of which lets this boxset down is it has tarantula instead of Them! still is a fantastic purchase and well worth it

 Classic sci-fi for sure!

Amazing value for under a tenner! The Thing was the 1st ever sci-fi film so its a milestone in movie history!!! A brilliant box set.

Quite frankly, a penny under a tenner for these films is remarkable. "The Incredible Shrinking Man" is regarded as a cult classic in its own right and is worth the money on its own IMHO. The other selections are great - from interstellar reaches of This Island Earth, to the swamps of the Black Lagoon and interspersed with fear, monsters, frights and suspense of the other films. And all the films are great for repeated viewing. Obviously, modern day tastes mean the frights aren't as in-your-face, but the subtle use of music and suspense more than makes up for this.

I have to wholeheartedly agree with another reviewer that Them! - with the marvellous giant ants - would have made this a truly majestic boxset. And for that I have taken a star away.

Alot of fun for a little money

This boxset is such good value and all 7 films are either brilliant or watchable. the Incredible Shrinking Man ,the Thing, Creature From The Black Lagoon and this Island Earth are classic sci fi films to me,and when compared to the state of modern sci fi(Skyline? The Day The Earth Stood Still Remake?),i respect them ever more.Invasion Of The bodysnatchers is an amazing film with a genuinely great ending and some fine acting.Pity the DVD has such poor picture quality. For me Tarantula is the weakest of the set but still worth a watch! all DVDs come in slimline plastic cases.

A great place to start for Sci-Fi fans!

I bought this set when I decided to start collecting classic sci-fi flicks last year and I'm still patting myself on the back for the great choice I made. This is a great place to start for any fan of the genre. In this set you'll find 7 excellent movies which were milestones in Sci-Fi history. You'll probably find a piece of your favourite modern Sci-Fi flick in one or more of these movies. My fave movie in this set has to be The Creature From the Black Lagoon which I've seen countless times now.

If you're just about to start your Sci-Fi collection start with this set and you will not be disappointed!
