Anyone who is a fan of anime and/or the Robotech franchise would kick themselves if they did not buy and/or watch this, the latest installment in the Robotech saga by Harmony Gold.

The story picks up where the last of the older series (Robotech: New Generation) leaves off with the Robotech Expeditionary Force fleet massing in order to assault reflex point and free the Earth from the invid once and for all.

It should be noted that watching the previous series is NOT necessary this film brings you up to date before it begins, so although it is definitely beneficial to watch the other series it is by no means necessary.

For any fanbois like me out there of the Robotech franchise, you will be pleased to here that many of the original voice cast from the original series return to voice the characters in this new installment, along with other talented voice actors such as Mark Hamill for example.

The production quality of this anime is astounding and it looks, sounds and feels like it has been given all the big budget hollywood treatment one would expect from a major motion picture, from story, to dialogue to big orchestral music this film is quality through and through, and with future installments in production and on the horizon things are definitely looking up for Robotech once more.

Indeed with regard to this anime i would go so far as to say it is very easy to forget you are watching an anime at all and not some major motion picture it feels epic.. and i got the same buzz I got from watching star Wars for the first time back in the 70's.

for the price it is, even if you like sci fi but arent sure of anime you would be foolish not to take the risk and buy this, you'll be glad you did.

I gave it 5 stars as apart from being 4 or 5 hours long i couldn't imagine how for me at least it could have been any better.

Welcome back Robotech, you have been missed... :)

Robotech is an absolute classic, its one of them series which will never get outdated.

If you buys this, then I also urge you to get the original box sets - you won't regret it.. the 3rd season (The New Generation) is especially good, after all who wouldn't want a cyclone super-bike which ;)
