- Filmographies
Known as the 'Queen of the Music Hall', Marie Lloyd was famous at the turn of the century not just for her performances on stage but also for her riotous behaviour off it. Lloyd's love life and outrageous conduct made her a target for the rising tabloid newspapers of the time.
This film includes some of Lloyd's most famous songs, including My Old Man Said Follow the Van and her theme song A Little of What You Fancy Does You Good, painting a poignant portrayal of public success and personal sadness.

This is truly marvellous. Foot tapping and heart rendering. Jessie Wallace at her finest. Every little movement certainly does have a meaning of its own. I urge you to buy it.

When this was shown on TV I completely forgot it was on, so, unfortnately, I missed it, but I was as pleased as punch to find they were releasing it on DVD, so ordered my copy straight away. This type of programme is what should be on the TV more than all the reality TV shows we have to endure these days. Marie Lloyd is a fantastic piece of drama and Jessie Wallace is perfectly cast in the title role....who knew she could sing. There is also great support from the likes of Richard Armitage and Matthew Marsh, who play both of her husbands. A must have DVD.
