I first saw this film at the flat pack film festival in 2006, and I remember laughing out loud along with others, then I saw it at a club night in Bristol, this time used as visuals, and then, while in Sweden I saw it on sale in shop in Stockholm. It seemed like the film was following me around, so I bought a copy. I have to say this really is a true slice of punk film making. Disregarding the fact that this is basically along the same lines as say 'This Is Spinal Tap' or 'A Mighty Wind' in that it is a spoof rockumentary and mocks, and reveries the selected genre (in this case Black Metal) it is it clearly in a league of it's own. There is a subtlety, and deformed glee that is totally fresh and unique in Legalize Murder, and performances by armatures that put most mainstream actors to shame. Also, you don't need to know anything about black metal to understand or get the film, I didn't, and still don't really. I would have given this copper bottom triumph 5 stars, but weighing in at one hour ten minutes long, you're always left wanting more, but maybe that's a good thing.
