Review

"There's an evil new force in the universe. A monster planet that devours everything in its path.....and it's heading for the small planet of Cybertron, where a unique race of transforming robots continue to fight a civil war, a war between good and evil that has raged for millions of years.

The evil Decepticon Transformers, led by the maniacal Megatron have sworn to crush their enemies the Autobots. To this end, they have relentlessly pursued them across the galaxy from planet Cybertron to planet Earth and back again. But the heroic Autobot Transformers and their courageous leader Optimus Prime, are not easily defeated..."

The year is 2005, and the Decepticons have retaken Cybertron from Optimus Prime and his Autobot warriors. Whilst the Autobots prepare to launch an offensive to re-take their home world, the Decepticons - led by the maniacal Megatron - stage a surprise attack and decimate the Autobots' Earth base, resulting in massive casualties on both sides. However, a new enemy is on the horizon, an enemy the likes of which, no Transformer has ever seen before. That menace is Unicron, a gigantic robot with the ability to transform into a small moon; capable of devouring whole planets to fuel his desire for unlimited power. With Unicron fast-approaching, and the heroic Autobots in peril, one must rise from within the ranks and use the Autobot Matrix of Leadership - the only power that can end Unicron's terrifying reign of destruction.

Featuring a stellar cast of voice actors, this was the penultimate cinematic performance for the great, Orson Welles (it was the last job he worked on, however) and the last performance from Scatman Crothers (The Shining).

I now own the very best and most complete version of this classic.

I owned the original on VHS but that wore out. I waited until something with features came out on DVD and this version is pretty damn good.

Play have finally corrected the title as it doesnt come in a 'tin box' but dont worry, its in a cardboard sleeve with original art work on inside case. As for the features, they are pretty cool, especially the adverts for Japan and US.

I say if you havent already got a DVD version, buy this.
