Theorising that one could time travel within his own lifetime, Dr. Sam Beckett stepped into the Quantum Leap accelerator and vanished...

He woke to find himself trapped in the past, facing mirror images that were not his own and driven by an unknown force to change history for the better. His only guide on this journey is Al, an observer from his own time, who appears in the form of a hologram that only Sam can see and hear. And so Dr. Beckett finds himself leaping from life to life, striving to put right what once went wrong and hoping each time that his next leap will be the leap home.

I first watched Quantum Leap back in about 1995 when I was aged about 11 or 12 and it remains one of my all time favourite TV shows to this day (Possibly only beaten by The Wire). Following a time travel experiment that went wrong each episode sees Sam (Scott Bakula) 'leaping' into the body of someone from the past in order to change something that went wrong in their lives. Until the final episode we never find out what is causing this to happen but to be honest Quantum Leap was never really about the science fiction.

What made Quantum Leap special was the way in which it dealt with real life issues such as racism, war or relationships in such an interesting and honest way. I have since watched this show from start to finish again both on TV and later on DVD (I bought each series separately as they were released) and it is as enjoyable now as it was 15 years ago.

The thing about Quantum Leap is that it takes you on an adventure that you don't get nor feel these days. The science, the stories, the ups and downs.....life overall.

I first watched quantum leap just before the early 90's and it was ab fab. Even todays Dr Who, imo, struggles to beat it.

Who would you be if you could choose....for a day?
