A spin-off from Hercules: The Legendary Journeys Xena soon established itself as the superior show largely thanks to the warrior princess herself played by the fantastic Lucy Lawless.

The set-up itself is fairly simple. Having been given a second chance by Hercules Xena vows to change her ways and make amends for all the evil deeds she has committed. She is soon joined by bard, and eventual fellow warrior Gabrielle (Renee O'Connor). The pairs developing relationship is really the main focus of the show, Lawless and O'Connor have fantastic on screen chemistry, but virtually every character from God of War Ares to Xenas nemesis Callisto were played brilliantly.

Many tried to dismiss the adventures of the Warrior Princess as silly nonsense but the creators appreciation of their audience always shone through and everything was done with tongue firmly in cheek. Capable of being serious and moving one week and then all out farce the next (only rarely getting it wrong) Xena was as entertaining as anything else on TV.

seen every episode but gonna treat myself and buy this.this series was always in the shadow of `hercules;the legendary journeys`but soon established itself in its own right and became a more popular and rounded series.every episode is fun, exciting, witty, well written.some were very dark and violent which only showed the range of its characters.lucy lawless became an icon overnight and held the whole thing together.renee`o connor as gabrielle was a perfect foil for xena and the 2 of them had great chemistry.throw in some terrific supporting heroes & villains such as joxer, aries & callisto and you have a tv treat.stirring stuff.

i saw xena right from the very beginning and was hooked instantly by the characters story and the epic battles that commence throughout the six year run.
through the six years you can see how the characters develop and the plots grow stronger.
season 3 is probably my favourite season out of the six with 4 and 5 just behind.
season 3 developed the characters and gave us an insight into xenas deadly past this season featured the greatest villains she has ever faced and it all comes full circle in the explosive and shocking finale which overflows into season 4.
season 5 gives the show a new direction after the aftermath of season 4s ides of march.
with eciting storylines and the twilight of the gods.
XPLOSIVE!!!
