I was 12 years old when this first came to BBC screens and i was hooked, season one is a bit long and strays from the book a fair bit. I think a shorter season would have worked better. However by season 2 the show had really picked up and the special effects for that time were ground breaking. The BBC cancelled it while series 2 was still in production and then blamed a drop in ratings for the cancellation of season 3. It was pulling in 9 million for series one, this dropped too 6 million for series two but if your not going to get the 3rd and final season people just decided not to watch. I hope DVD sales are good as this was a classic series which now like Dr Who and Survivors deserves a remake so we can finally see how the Tripods were destroyed. Come on BBC, Give it another chance, shorten the seasons and you'll have a hit on your hands. I have loved reliving the tripods, its well worth buying. A truely great Sci fi classic. Please BBC do a remake. I want to see how it really should have ended. I urge anyone to give it a go. A dam fine sci-fi series which became a victim of the BBC's turn against Sci-fi shows back in the 80's. 10/10
