The third season of "Deadwood" sees the people of the camp face their toughest adversary yet with hard won elections, property and lives all at risk. Uneasy alliances will be formed and blood will be shed and when its all over you may let out a small sigh of relief.
This season, sadly the last, is engrossing, involving and nail-bitingly tense. Violence threatens to erupt at every turn and engulf all of the towns' inhabitants. Only characters like ruthless saloon owner Al Swearengen ( an outstanding performance by Ian McShane) and noble but rash Sheriff Seth Bullock ("Die Hard" villain Timothy Olyphant) stand in the way of complete destruction.
As usual, the whole thing is beautifully written, expertly acted by a brilliant ensemble cast and features some of the most creative profanity ever to grace the small screen.
If you are new to "Deadwood", buy season 1 and get to know the camp and its colourful residents from the very beginning. You will be rewarded with a fantastic TV series which will stand up to many repeat viewings.
If you are already familiar with "Deadwood" then you probably agree.

Not having Sky I hadn't seen any of Deadwood before it arrived on DVD, but decided to give it a go since I'm a big western fan, and of HBO's shows in general. I hugely enjoyed the first two seasons of Deadwood and this third has been no exception. As was the case with "The Sopranos" before it I find the show to be absolutely compulsive viewing. Even though I try to pace myself when working through the box set I find every episode just leaves me wanting more.
I suppose my one complaint is that the presentation of this package is even more bare bones than the previous two: we don't even get an animated menus or plot synopsises this time round, but I guess that fact becomes kind of irrelevant considering the quality of the actual episodes. Very highly recommended.

I watched this on tv & it was awesome. The acting is brilliant & realistic. Ian McShane as the evil Al Swearengen is the highlight. After the first series, i thought it couldnt get better but it did & season 3 is the best. If you have never watched any of them, then go out & buy all three series, you wont be disappointed. If you like westerns that are gritty & violent, this is for you my friends. Enjoy.
