New York is in turmoil, the age of capitalism is drawing to a close and Eric Packer, a high finance golden boy is chauffeured across the city in his extravagant limousine to get a haircut. A visit from the President of the United States paralyses Manhattan and as the day goes by, an eruption of wild activity unfolds on the city's streets.

Eric watches helplessly as his empire collapses and as his paranoia intensifies during the 24-hour period, he starts to piece together clues that lead him to a most terrifying secret: his imminent assassination.

Deep, cerebral, thought provoking study of human nature.

If you're looking for Edward Cullen here then don't buy this DVD. This is a stark study of a jaded, dissolute, overly rich young man who is bored with his life and the sycophants he needs but detests. This is not a movie to watch in part and then say you stopped watching because it was boring or whatever other emotion it inspires in you. It really is necessary to watch the entire movie to make a judgement. Although I would have preferred a more definitative ending, I have to say that I was enthralled by this man and his seemingly sad life. He had it all, materialistically but in the end, he had nothing. Great movie in my opinion.

 NOT FOR NORMAL AUDIENCE CONSUMPTION

Pretentious in in the extreme, just like the book on which it was based. It attempts satire, but all characters could be the same person (that's the satire!) just talk @ each other. 75% of the film is set in a Limousine. Conflict near non-existent, and the end is so flaccid it just beggars belief. One person in the cinema showing I attended snorted awake halfway through. Neat idea/ satirical concept boringly done; totally unrewarding. Cinema version was longer, so some must be cut
