Uneven but eventually very fine movie

I saw this compilation of short stories taking place in Paris when it was released in theaters and enjoyed it very much. Because the shorts are directed by different directors and star different actors, some of them are so-so (Parc Monceau by Alfonso Cuaron), while some of them are wildly entertaining (Quartier de la Madeleine by Vincenzo Natali for its eery beauty, Tour Eiffel by Sylvain Chomet for its poetry, or Tuileries by Joel and Ethan Coen for its humour).

Warning for French-speaking customers : English subtitles are hard-coded and thus not removable.

If you fancy something different and a film which isn't the conventional type, Paris Je T'aime could be one you select. It's a series of mini films (generally lasting 5 to 7 minutes each). You'll go through many emotions - laughing at some of the films, get a lump in your throat, smile, admire, feel romantic and fall in love with a few of the mini-films. Yes, not all the films are perfect but everyone has something to be admired - the direction, the lighting, the sound track, the script, the acting and of course, the glorious Paris backdrop.

It is a film you can delve into or watch straight through. The 'making of' is also worth a watch too in the bonus section.

 Paris, je t'aime.

This is a fantastic film. The collaborative effort of 22 high caliber directors amount to a superb visual compliment owed to the belle ville de Paris. Vincenzo Natali, Gus Van Sant and the Coen brothers each leave their mark gold-plated touch to the silver screen.
A star-studded cast sees the likes of Maggie Gyllenhaal, Juliette Binoche, Gérard Depardieu, Willem Defoe and Steve Buscemi to name but a few. The film has also embraced the presence of the lesser-known actor Seydou Boro, as Oliver Schmitz produces his profoundly moving scene 'Place des Fêtes', temporarily shattering the flawless facade of Paris.
As the end draws near you are awarded with a tingling sense of irony as a far greater feat becomes evident.

I can't recommend this highly enough.

If you are looking for a movie with a storyline, then this isn't it, but I would recommend it anyway. If you don't know anything about this beautiful film, then it may be a surprise. It is a collection of very short films from a variety of established directors, each depicting the city of love in a unique way. Featuring an all star cast, you will see Paris in a way you have never seen it before. It shows both sides of the city; on one hand, drugs, stabbing and erm ... vampires, but on the other you see love, a couple fighting to stay together, a grieving mother learning to let go. If you are unsure about watching a film in a foreign language then don't worry; the cultural diversity is efficiently demonstrated, with the English language incorporated many times. There are English and American characters and a young Spanish mother.

You will laugh, you will cry, and most importantly you will fall in love with Paris.

A great watch. Artistically shot & creatively put together :)
Although.. I think Elijah Wood's story was a little random..

 I really loved this movie!

Wonderful little cameoes, each portraying a different theme of love, beautifully filmed. Very evocative of the atmosphere of Paris, the music enhances the artistic photography. Takes some time to watch, but well worth it.

Absolutely fantastic. Gave a beautiffully crafted view of a whole city in a variety of ways. The uniqueness of the individual stories made up for the lack of an overarching narative. You would need to be in the right mood for it but its a must see for anyone who just likes being told stories.

hhhmmm feel rather let down by this, not what it says on the tin...a couple of enjoyable films on it but all in all a let down, the opening film was comical and juliet binoche's film was terribly sad but she does the heartbreak look like none other..but not what i thought it would be a dissapointment really..
