One of my all time greats. Burt Reynolds and John Voight star in this great 70's film. 4 guys canoeing through redneck country just so they can say they've completted a stretch of river . Great acting , great scenery and great action scenes . If you haven't seen it then get it for gawd sake . !

The term classic movie is dished around too often these days. But this film is without a doubt movie classic!
What starts of as weekend with the boys, turns quickly into a weekend of survival. The cast are perfect and the direction is faultless. The film may not shock as much as it did in 1972, but the now notoriouse "squeal like a pig" scene is still very uncomfortable viewing. This is the version to buy of the film, as the special features are good, including a look back at the making of this classic, and also the extent bo Burt Renolds face lifts and fake tan!
The film may have been copied many times, ranging from Walter Hill's Southern Comfort to the more resent shlock horror of the Wrong Turn movies, but none of it's immitators are as good as this .
This is one of the greatest films of the 70's and can stand with The Exorcist and Jaws as a testiment to that.
Faultless!

This is a good clasic movie with a great star cast put together. Deliverence shows how good 70's movies are unlike some rubbish that gets produced these days. It will certainly keep you intrigued as it did me when I first watched it with my mum, and to this day I still watch it and enjoy it. The story line is good, understandable and easy to follow which I think is good in any film because you don't have to play the film again to get the jist. Instead you'll end up playing this movie again simply because it was enjoyable the first time. And this film goes to show why you should keep your friends close but keep your enemies closer. But don't just take my word for it buy this great film and see for yourself. You won't be disappointed, not even by the price which is also great.

My mum advised me to watch this cos she liked it years ago. It was terrible! one slightly humorous moment with duelling banjos and then just the most boring and uneventful storyline.

I first came accross this excellent film when I was 12 years old, when my father told me to watch it as he had seen it in the cinema years before. From the most memorable part in the film for me(Duelling Banjos)I knew it was going to be good. The casting was superb and Ronny Cox and Ned Beatty made their screen debuts.I have lost count on how many times I've seen it,but one thing for sure I will never get bored with it.It is my favourite film of all time.

Superb wilderness against city types film. As you watch the story unfold you will become more engrossed and find yourself constantly thinking 'what would I do in that situation'. It's also a study of human nature as much as man vs nature and how different personalities cope when completely out of their comfort zone. Boorman paid as much attention to this as he did the action which is why this film works.

Let's not forget the four protaganists, Burt Reynolds, Ronnie Cox, John Voight and Ned Beatty were not as well known then as they are now and have all become highly successful in their own right so Boorman's casting was spot on.

Last but not least, even today, you can't help recreating the Duelling Banjos tune which has now become synonimous with anything to do with hillbillies, inbreeding or country type folk with sinister undertones.

Brilliant film, defo in my top 20. 'Andrew Bogomil' does a star turn on the guitar, but really it is about a few mates, one is dead hard and the others are pretty normal, who go canoeing down a rives just before it is covered by the building of a dam. One for a Weekend afternoon.
