This is one film that I have kept on comming back to over a period of many years.
It provokes feelings of hilarity, sorrow, nostalga and a feel good factor. It deals with a variety of serious issues, such as death, dysfunctional famalies, sex, child abuse and other matters.
We follow the life of linda, an early teens girl in post war, "stiff upper lip" England and we rejoice and cry as she refuses to conform and causes trouble for all around her.
Be warned, the film contains a great deal fairly low level swearing (all justified) and it does deal with some very adult issues-very sensitively.
It is a tail of stolen innocence and one girl's triamphs over adversity.
Scenes of sadness are balanced with one of hilarity and the result is uplifting.
Emily Lloyd puts in a first class performance and proves to be very watchable.
I woudl highly recommend this film.
fantastically funny
