The Godfather: (1972)
Considered by many to be the greatest movie ever made, Francis Ford Coppola's epic masterpiece features Oscar winner Marlon Brando as the head of the Corleone family. Coppola paints a chilling portrait of a Sicilian family's rise and near fall from power in America, and the passage of rites from a father to a son who was previously uninvolved in the business.

Godfather Part II: (1974)
The Godfather Part II is one of the rare breed of cinematic sequels which is as good as, and perhaps better than, the original. Al Pacino heads the star cast as Michael Corleone, heir to the criminal empire established by his Mafioso father, the late Don Corleone.

Michael is now in charge of all gambling activities in Nevada, making certain that any and all political or mob enemies are quickly bought off, compromised, or disposed of. Throughout the film, Michael's travails are paralleled with the early experiences of his father, played in flashbacks by Robert DeNiro.

The Godfather III: (1990)
In the final instalment of the Godfather Trilogy, an aging Don Michael Corleone seeks to legitimise his crime family's interests and remove himself from the violent underworld.

Now in his sixties, Michael is dominated by two passions: freeing his family from crime, and finding a suitable successor. That successor could be fiery Vincent (Andy Garcia)... but he may also be the spark that turns Michael's hopes of business legitimacy into an inferno of mob violence.

This film is one of the few things that has no plot holes, gripping characters and a brilliant plot.
The acting from Brando in The Godfather is breath taking and is without a doubt what made him one of the greatest actors of all time. But all performances are solid from Pachino,Duvall,Diane keaton and James Caen.

The trilogy keeps getting stronger, the second film although not as good as the the 1st one is still brilliant with DeNiro playing Young Vito Corlenoe and also the plot is well thought out and directed by Capolla very well.

Even the third film is fantastic.

 You Must Buy This!!!

This boxset is worth every penny! Its nice and compact, not like the older bulkier editions, so it saves space. The sound & picture quality looks a little updated, oh yeah it's one of the greatest trilogies ever made!!

By the way:
The italian parts of the movies are not subtitled & alot of people have been buying the boxset not knowing this. Choose the last english subtitle option (08/08) for the subtitles to appear on these scenes. I've read alot of reviews on the boxset on other websites and alot of people are giving bad write-ups because they did not know about this! I'm saving you the bother!!

Part 1 - Top notch performances, and plenty of substance. Suffers from Coppola's lack of cinematic style, but the story keeps you interested.

Part 2 - Everything part 1 was, plus a little bit more.

Part 3 - An unworthy heir, fine in its own right, but terrible in comparison to the first two.

 An Absolute Classic

If you do not own this DVD box set you simply must have it, no DVD collection is complete without it. The acting in it is brilliant as are the set peices. The Godfather set the bench mark and the Godfather part II raised it, I have to admit part III is not as good as the previous films. But it is going to have to take a superb film to knock the Godfather films off the top of the all time greatest films.

The Godfather has stood the test of time and is still many people's no 1 of all time. All 3 films fit together to make a great trilogy, but maybe they left it 10 years too late in making Godfather 3. you leave Godfather 2 in the 70's and then join Godfather 3 in the 90's which destroys the continuity of the trilogy. Godfather 3 is very underrated and generally gets it's bad press due to the unbeatable high standards of the previous 2. The Godfather is one of the only movies i can watch again and again.

Brando, Pacino & De Niro. what more can be said!!!
