From the creator of Paranormal Activity comes a terrifying new thriller set on the site of the world's most horrific nuclear disaster.

Chernobyl Diaries follows a group of six young vacationers who, looking to go off the beaten path, hire an "extreme" tour guide. Ignoring warnings, he takes them into the city of Pripyat, the former home to the workers of the Chernobyl nuclear reactor, but a deserted town since the disaster more than 25 years ago. After a brief exploration of the abandoned city, however, the group soon finds themselves stranded, only to discover that they are not alone...

 Utter disappointment

| | See all digitalblonde's reviews (2)

After being so excited to watch this film and the disappointment I felt upon doing so I felt compelled to write a review. What I thought would be an amazing film turned out to be boring and not at all frightening. In such an incredible place they could have created a great film with an interesting story-line but they failed on both accounts. I felt that nothing actually happened in the film and what little that does occur is not resolved. So if your looking for a good horror please take my advice, this is not it.

 Great concept...

Not so great film.
Really disappointing for me - there could have been so much more scares! It's the perfect set up for a horror, wasted in my opinion. Yes there are jumpy bits, but unfortunately I jumped at none.
Not really worth the money or time in my opinion. There are much better horrors out there!

 awesome mood

To me, this was a really awesome movie experience. The mood throughout the film is dark, dank and just awesome (and amplified by the fact that they are in Prypiat). Of course there are some moments of "oh god they're so STUPID!", but no more than is natural in a horror film, and all in all I must say the acting was surprisingly good. Small details, looks, glances and dialogue that really drove the point home on several occasions. Absolutely worth watching!

 Good creppy horror

Watched this last night and to my suprise it was pretty good. One of the best settings for a horror film I have ever seen. Desolate, grey and grim thats what I'll call the locations, BUT that fits in so very well into the story. The creepy unseen creatures were effective, as you never really catch them, just glimpses here and there and the scream of another victim! Not a very long film but keeps you on the edge of your seat from start to finish. Recommend.

Enjoyable, but not everyones cuppa tea

I enjoyed this film, but i realise its not everyone's cuppa tea....basically if you like a ending in a film that explains everything, you wont like this !
