There are 21 days left until the end of the world. Meek salesman Dodge (Steve Carell - The 40 Year Old Virgin) has been suddenly deserted by his wife and now has no idea how to spend his last remaining days. When a riot breaks out around his building, Dodge escapes in the car of his extraverted neighbour Penny (Keira Knightley - Pirates of the Caribbean). Seizing the moment, they embark on a hilarious road trip to reunite with their loved ones - Dodge with his long lost high school sweetheart and Penny with her family. On the road together, the unlikely traveling companions' respective personal journeys accelerate, and their outlooks - if not the world's - brighten.

If you fancy something a bit different than you could do far worse than this romantic comedy/drama/apocolypse movie.
Carell and Knightley are brilliant together as the final days of the planet before it is destroyed by a meteor and realise that it's the smaller things in life that really matter and in the closing days what really matters. It treads a fine line betwen comedy and drama and maybe cannot figure out what it wants to be. But it's the closing quarter of the film where Carell's character fugures out who his love is that really hits home. Don't expect grand scale apocolypse such as Armageddon or Deep Impact, but the overall Impact of the film still hits deep.
The film also boasts a brilliant soundtrack including The Hollies classic "The Air That I Breath" that has never been used to better effect.
It's funny, sad and touching and I was not lookin forward to watching it, but I'm glad I did.
See If you like......
Crazy Stupid Love.
Bucket List.
Deep Impact (especially the final ten mins)

21st of December 2012, the end of the World or just another day? This so called comedy is taking advantage of all the will it won't it of this World ending on that day. The film's stars particularly Kera play an excellent role in the film, Steve Carell is left in the shadows in some performances. Is this film worth the money, no. Is it worth justifying films that are trying to cash in on people's fears? No. This movie apart from a couple of touching moments, is bargain basement material.
