Wasn't expecting much from this only watched it because of Ryan R (Van Wilder), slow start to film but the the longer it went on the closer I got to the telly. Liked the little twists along the way and woz kept guessing right to the end. A must see for everyone!

Customer rating: 2 out of 5 stars definitely disappointing!

I love my rom coms, in fact my 300 strong dvd collection is about 95% rom com, and I was really looking forward to this, but wanted to turn it off half an hour in. I stuck it, but wished I hadn't bothered. Cute story, just not told well and when you find out who the girls mother is, its a huge anti-climax and not handled very well.

Customer rating: 4 out of 5 stars A new favourite

I really wasn't expecting much from this film, but I absolutely fell in love with it. Despite not usually watching romantic comedys, I really enjoyed this one. I love films with flashbacks and a non-linear time line and this one was quite smart with it. The dialogue is clever and there are a lot of both witty and touching scenes. However, if you have a short attention span, this may not be the best film for you to watch. I did start to get a little bored half-way through, however the plot soon got going again and now I really want it as part of my DVD collection. I could watch it over and over. Plus, Ryan Reynolds is a cutie.

Customer rating: 1 out of 5 stars definitely not

I thought it was rubbish and I like my Rom Coms - turned it off after about an hour. Saying that tho, I'm not gone on films told in a flashback sort of way.

dont get me wrong ive got nothing against rom com's,in fact im a big fan of ps i love you, what happens in vegas, made of honour etc but this film just didnt do it for me,in fact i have to admit i fell asleep in chunks of it so maybe i missed the good bits, everytime i woke up it was the bloke and his daughter in her room talking which i found extremely boring, thats probably why i fell back to sleep, sorry i just didnt get why it was suppossed to be good

Customer rating: 4 out of 5 stars good enough!

Three relationships. Three disasters. One last chance. If you love romantic movies than this movie is just for you.
Kevin Kline was an absolute delight as an unapologetic drunken writer/professor who also happens to be quite full of himself. Rachel Weisz (whom I normally do not care for) was completely (and unexpectedly) charming. Ryan Reynolds was also a good casting choice. Unexpectedly believable as a dad. The bulk of the movie is him explaining to his daughter, bedtime story style (told entirely in flashbacks) about love and how he met her mother, with her being the proverbial "happy ending". Except ... she seems to be the only one who notices that her Dad really isn't happy at all. Isla Fisher also shines. Watching her character grow from someone who is completely devoid of any direction or purpose into a real woman, complete with self-esteem, was a nice touch. Loved the relationship stories. It's amazing what you don't see when you are in a relationship, only to come to a realization much later. The fact that Ryan Reynolds sometimes gets so carried away with the story that he forgets he is talking to a little girl leads to a few (ok, so it's a lot) contrived chuckles along with a couple of genuinely funny moments. It's not going to win an Oscar or break a box office record, but if you want a completely enjoyable two hour escape ... see this movie.

This is set in NYC in the early nineties, and includes the birth of mobile phones and the internet. This film has a very well writen script, which is funny in places, however this is more of a love story than a rom com. This isn't your usual run of the mill rubbish, I was really imrpessed, and would definately watch it again. This is a film you won't mind sitting through with your girlfriend on a lazy Sunday afternoon... A well deserved 5 stars..
