With a signature blend of action, humour and character-based spectacle, the saga of the world's toughest, kitten-loving hero from Hell continues to unfold in Hellboy 2: The Golden Army. Bigger muscle, badder weapons and more ungodly villains arrive in an epic vision of imagination from Oscar nominated director Guillermo del Toro (Pan's Labyrinth, Hellboy).

After an ancient truce existing between humankind and the invisible realm of the fantastic is broken, hell on Earth is ready to erupt. A ruthless leader who treads the world above and the one below defies his bloodline and awakens an unstoppable army of creatures. Now, it's up to the planet's toughest, roughest superhero to battle the merciless dictator and his marauders. He may be red. He may be horned. He may be misunderstood. But when you need the job done right, it's time to call in Hellboy!

Dark Knight please take note, this film has characters, warmth and above all humour, exactly what a comic book movie should be!

 Big Red does it again

I'm a huge fan of the comics and first movie. I bought this without even seeing it in the cinema, why? The main reason was the fact that Del Toro was directing and the return of the original cast. But, this is a totally different beast to the first Hellboy. The crew have already established the character's in the first installment, so now Big Red is unleashed. The comedy elements are spot on, the action scenes are better than anything in the summer blockbuster movies, and if that's not enough, Del Toro kept the heart of the movie beating brilliantly. I can't praise this film enough, even down to the introduction of the new character's, Johann Krauss in particular (voiced by the ever excellent Seth MacFarlane), is inspired. So all I can say is, just buy this movie, sit back, and enter a world you've never been before. And guaranteed, you'll return again for more.
Plus, the extra's are to die for!!

The 2004 Hellboy was a great comic book adaption, and although it may have not have been the big summer blockbuster of that year, was one of the most entertaining films of 2004.
Director Guillermo del Toro's sequel, is without a doubt one of the most imaginative films of the year. this visionary director really does know how to make a comic fantasy film. Ron Pearlman is again amazing as the devils reject and the rest of the remaining cast return in much expanded roles.Credit should also go to Matt Goss (The drummer from 80's teen pop band Bros. and Blade 2) who again plays the bad guy, Goss can really act, given the right direction.
The sets in the film are breathtaking and seem very real in a fantasy underworld setting. The story again is great, but what amazed me with this film is how much has been achieved with again an average size budget. Del Toro makes every scene count, and the special effects are amazing.
If you have just manged to pick your jaw from the floor from seeing the classic The Dark Knight, you have to see this. Although it may not be quite as good as Batman's latest outing. This movie is sure to entertain and mesmerise comic book and Fantasy film fans.
A visionary and Mesmerising blockbuster.
