As Good As The Movies Themselves...

With each pixar movie, they release an animated short that's played before the main feature in the cinema. From the 1986 Luxo Jnr,to 2006s' One Man Band, each short showcases the famous studios abilities in the arena of digital animation.

In my mind, all thirteen animated short movies are as important to the development of cinema as the films themselves

I remember going to see Monsters Inc. in the cinema and watching For The Birds beforehand. An our into the film and I was still chuckling over the fat blobs of feathers pecking away with an irate and dishevelled dementia at their Goliath cousin's feet.

This collection is a informing and entertaining representation of the ever-evolving style and developement that Pixar experiment with as they're producing their full-lengths.

Oscar winner For The Birds is particularly immense.

After having watched the pixar shorts many times on video when i was younger and having fond memories of tin toy and knick knack
i was not the happiest person in the world when i found the video was gone, never to be found again.
but after finding this dvd, my enjoyment of pixar has once again been fufilled and more.
Praise to john lassater and the pixar team.

 Great Collection

Pixar's trademark cinema shorts are great to watch again and again. The finely crafted short stories are brilliant to fill gaps when you haven't got 90 minutes to spare to watch a film.

The shorts are excellent from the slobbering baby and the terrorised one man bad toy in 'Tin Toy' to the uplifting Jackalope and sheep in 'Boundin' and the hilarious frazzled babysitter coping in 'Jack Jack Attack'.

The three early shorts are really only of historical interest but there is a fascinating documentary about the development of Pixar and computer animation.

Obviously great for the kids too. Real family entertainment in thirteen four minute slots.
