From the moment this film begins, with Donnie cycling home, Richard Kelly sets his skilful mind into gear and portrays a jaw dropping introduction to this movie.

"Detail" is the correct term to use I guess. Throughout the film are a number of scenes enacting effortlessly in the background which -if you're smart enough to notice - give a sense of 'reality' and structure to film. You don't even notice it's a film and you sort of become part of the movie. It seems extremely "believable", in a sense that Kelly has given us ideas in relation to 'Steven Hawking' and incorporates this into the story. Since I am physicist I find this movie absolutely fascinating and without a doubt conceivable, in theoretical terms.

I guarantee that if you watch this movie it will take your breath away. I don't want to describe the film in any detail since it will give the ideas and storyline away. I will therefore leave you with this...

The story is very much thought provoking. Its the type that leaves you pondering the possibilities voiced by the characters. There is nothing condescending about this film. Answers aren't simply handed out, rather the viewer is left to draw many conclusions instead. The acting is also top notch. If i hadn't known beforehand that Patrick Swayze was in this film I would have been shocked. His character is amusing and interesting all at the same time. A great cameo for him. Drew Barrymore is forgettable, though that in no way detracts from the film. Of course the star is Jake Gyllenhaal. There is nothing that can be said to properly praise his performance, he gives a great performance in what i find to be his best movie yet.This movie is great in every way and leaves you on the edge of your seat throughout the movie.

One of my favourite films of all time, it is a must buy. It is very confusing at some points, and you literally can't just watch it once!

First off Drew Barrymore should be comended for her role in getting this film made, without her we wouldn't have ever got the chance to see such an amazing original film. This truly is one of the most unique films I have ever seen. You can tell from every frame of this movie that Richard Kelly had a vision of what he wanted to make and he got his wish. It is extrememly hard to categorise this film but for me thats one of its charms you get a lot of genres all thrown into this film which makes it enjoyable for pretty much anyone. Its a must see for any serious film fan. The soundtrack is also ace on this film.

Donnie Darko is easily one of the best indie films ever, took the guy over 12 years to write (so im told, if its true is another thing). I found the film to be such an intresting film, it does start off slow and it does wreck your mind but trust me, its an excellent film.

This is a film where you wonder whats going on, then the final bit of the film everything falls into place and you actually feel like clapping. Brilliant stuff, highly recommended.

This film is awesome not one boring part in it. Great acting, great story. The first time you'll watch it will be confusing good but confusing, you have to watch it a couple of times to understand then soon will you realise its a masterpiece. The only thing that confuses me now is Is it a Horror Drama Sci fi thrillir or what.I'm gonna go for sci-fi and horror. Defffinatley a film buy or rent. If you seen it already buy it its awesome.

i came across this film by chance....i brought it.....possibly one of the best decisions of my life!!!! i have never seen a film so good, iv only had it a week and watched it 3 times!!!!!!

A Must-Watch--you can not afford to miss this film. The acting is superb and its one of those movies that just has an impact right away!

It's not a Horror, It's not a Thriller.. I'm not sure what it actually is..
Very interesting and largely misunderstood film with everyone going on about Time Travel.. which it's not actually about, I wont spoil it for those that haven't seen it by explain just what it's about..

It's a truely astounding film and everyone should watch it atleast once in their life time.
