Family Guy revolves around the Griffin family and their madcap adventures. The Griffin household includes two teenagers, a cynical dog who is smarter than everyone else, and a megalomaniacal mutant baby who makes numerous attempts to eradicate his parents and siblings. Heading up this eclectic household is Peter Griffin. Peter does his best to do what's right for the family, but along the way, he makes mistakes that are the stuff of legend...

Not actually season 6- strange but true!

I love family guy, but unfortunately the way that they split up seasons of TV series in the US in combination with the constant on/off treatment Family Guy received from the studio executives means that the DVD releases don't actually match up to the season numbers, nor the way they get shown on the BBC.

Season 1 is actually the first disk of the box set (with 2 of the episodes in a different order), season 2 covers disk 2 of the 1st set and the second set (almost all in a different order) and season 3 is just in the wrong order almost entirely.
From here it gets confusing!
Seasons 4 and 5 have become blended together, originaly including the 3 segments of the family guy movie (without the joining scenes) as seperate episodes. These 2 seasons now form season 4, 5 and 6 when it somes to region 2 dvd. Except that several episodes from season 5 are not on the season 6 disk set, and the 3 connected episodes were linked together and sold seperately as a dvd movie.

Season 6 begins with the Star Wars special 'Blue Harvest' and is the one currently airing in the US (07 to 08 season) It is likely to turn up on the 7th box set, or split over box sets 7, 8 and 9 in combination with season 7 once it is made.
Clear as mud?

So in a nutshell, this is the 6th collection of Family Guy, which as ever is funny enough for it to be banned in certain parts of the world with no sense of humour. But it's not actually season 6, despite it's title!

 getting cheated is getting old

I thought this season of family guy was average (some good some not so good), apparrently the newer episodes yet to be released are as good as the old one's (finally!). This is not my problem though.
My complaint is how us in the UK seem to be getting the short end of the stick when it comes to getting ripped off. Yet again a season has been split up and we have been charged more or less the same price for a season while in th U.S. they are getting the full seasons. It's the same story with blue harvest which is the season opener of the U.S. season 6.
This is about two thirds of the U.S. season 5 so it will probably take us about 8 or 9 seasons to get to the end of the proper season six which is being aired now in the US. Sort it out fox.

 Losing it's way

Rather unfortunately Family Guy has lost a lot of its charm and edge since the conclusion of season 3 and its subsequent rebirth. There is an over reliance on long musical sequences to fill time and little consistency in character development - Stewie Griffin himself has transformed from hilariously devilish evil genius into a whimpering and pathetic parody of himself, complete with camp undertones.

Peter remains the strongest character thanks to some great one liners but gone is his involvement in engrossing storylines from season 1 through 4, replaced by far too many fantasy and cut scenes.

Viewers who are new to Family Guy, and it seems to be the majority looking at some of the overappreciative reviews on Play.com, should refer back to season 2 to see Family Guy in its prime.

However, this DVD is still worth a look if you are patient enough to forgive the declining standards and enjoy some of the fun available.

Family Guy is the funniest comedy i've ever seen

Family Guy is original, un pc and the funniest animated series that i've seen. the fact that the show was cancelled and brought back by the huge ammount of dvd sales speaks for its self. if you buy this dvd the chances are you won't regret it.

 Let Down!

As an avid fan of Family guy i was (and still am) disappointed with this latest series; watched it on BBC3 'til i got bored and watched something else. Its become old and Seth is obviously running out of ideas, its just lost its spontaneous, witty edge and the jokes have instead have become far too simple and irrelevant to the plot, its just not funny anymore! Because of this... I have converted to South park. : D
