8 Strangers, 8 Points of view... 1 Truth
Thomas Barnes (Dennis Quaid) and Kent Taylor (Matthew Fox) are two Secret Service agents assigned to protect President Ashton (William Hurt) at a landmark summit on the global war on terror. When President Ashton is shot moments after his arrival in Spain, chaos ensues and disparate lives collide. In the crowd is Howard Lewis (Forest Whitaker), an American tourist videotaping the historic event to show his kids when he returns home. Also there is Rex (Sigourney Weaver), an American TV news producer who is reporting on the conference. It's only as we follow each person's perspective of the same 15 minutes prior to and immediately after the shooting that the terrifying truth behind the assassination attempt is revealed.

I watched this film with some friends and it did look appealing in the trailers but wow.... you never know just how repetitive it is until you are stuck watching the third perspective of a character and thinking "how much longer is left".
There are some cool scenes and the story is attractive. Even the acting was very good and I praise Matthew Fox for a role different to 'Jack' from LOST.
Clever enough.

This film has been slammed by many for its 24 style storytelling, however I feel it works well as it shows the same incident a few times with a cliffhanger at the end of each leaving you wondering what exactly will happen next, then when the final story comes the film is neatly tied together when all the loose ends meet. This film is worth a watch as it does provide some good action scenes especially the car chase.
Looking for something different ??

When so many films follow the traditional story line it is very refreshing to get a film with a different perspective.
The film covers a very short incident which it refers to from different peoples positions, everytime it returns to the beginning for the next person, an extra bit of information is revealed to develop your incite to the plot.
A really great idea, with some good quality cineography, and a stand out supporting actor performance from Forest Whittiker.
Some people i've spoken to have got impatient and bored with the film. You do need to concentrate on the film to see what it is revealing to you in order to really enjoy it.
I recommend this for strong fim lovers who like to think plots out, but not for those who want to chill out with an easy film as this would just be wasted on them.
