Well, what can I say? Mind blowing. Its such a tense film that definitely leaves you with food for thought.
Frank and April Wheeler started off well in life. They met, fell in love, had children, lived in a lovely house. However, with Frank in a non-descript job he hates and with April trapped in housewife role, they are nowhere near as happy as they had hoped. After things reach breaking point, April suggests they relocate to Paris in order to really start living. This looks like their chance to break away - until April falls pregnant and Frank decides to take a job promotion offered to him by his boss. With their chance to break free disappearing before their eyes, they have two choices: to try and make it work and be happy, or crumble.
This is such an emotional film, one that forces you to see each point of view and split the audience in opinions. A very "out-there" film, but absolutely brilliant.
Amazing movie! I defintly reccomend it to everyone! Leonardo Dicaprio should have been nominated for an oscar for this movie.
Revolutionary Road is not an easy movie to watch, it's scary not in the horror sense but in the real sense of it being possible in most of our own lives.
The story is fairly simple, a young couple who married due to pregnancy. The story follows from there, has the children changed their lives, robbed them of their dreams and ambitions, are they together for love or because they need to be?
The performances by both DiCaprio and Winslet are of the highest quality. Their portrayals of the characters are believeable and convincing helping you get into the story.
Overall: Revolutionary Road is a movie which might make you analyse your own life, and might make you think a little differently. It's a tough movie to watch for fear of the same situation.
It's a heart and gut wrenching film which will certainly make a mark.

I loved the book, and wasn't disappointed by the film - it is very faithful indeed.
I think this kind of movie is very hit and miss when it comes to audience. It is at times very difficult to watch, the subject matter is very mature, so I wouldn't expect everyone to find it plain sailing.
However overall I think the direction and cinematography was superb, and all the performances were magnificent. This film really showcases beautifully the struggle of a couple in the turbulant and vacuous era of 20th century America.
Regarding awards (a reviewer further down pointed this out) I think he/she referred to the Oscar Winslet won for a different film "The Reader" however I think it is a travesty she wasn't double nominated, she should have won for this aswell, a truly emotional and gripping set of performances from the lead actors, and the others aswell.
Powerful, revealing, but not everyone's cup of tea. I would read the book aswell, I loved it and wasn't disappointed by the film. Should have achieved more recognition and awards based on the quality, I highly recommend it and can't wait to add it to my collection.
An extremely thought provoking ride - the best film I have seen this year.
This is a very good movie in the sense that the Story and Direction is Good and the Acting is Excellent.
Di Caprio should have go an Oscar Nomination
But this film is not a very easy film to watch. It turns into a Psychological Horror movie towards the end.
This film shows 2 people unable to adjust to living the American Dream of the 1950s.
They seem to want and think they Deserve better, and are looking for some meaning and purpose to their existence.
This Im sure most people can relate to, as most people are not doing what they want. Most people dont even know WHAT they want anymore. It is easy squander all the freedom of a young and care free life and end up married, with kids and a big mortgage.
But I could not relate to the Selfish and Inconsiderate way Kate Winslets character went about trying to break free form her life.
I felt Di Caprios character was probably the most promising from the 2 when it came to becoming something or someone, but he managed to accept his existence. He managed to stay grounded and put his dreams and hopes to one side and take care of his responsibilities.
