- Making Of The Holiday
Iris is in love with a man who is about to marry another woman. Across the globe, Amanda realizes the man she lives with has been unfaithful. Two women who have never met and live 6000 miles apart, find themselves in the exact same place. They meet online at a home exchange website and impulsively switch homes for the holiday. Iris moves into Amanda's L.A. house in sunny California as Amanda arrives in the snow covered English countryside. Shortly after arriving at their destinations, both women find the last thing either wants or expects: a new romance. Amanda is charmed by Iris' handsome brother Graham and Iris, with inspiration provided by legendary screenwriter Arthur, mends her heart when she meets film composer Miles.

When you first read the description of this film, it might seem a bit confusing, but because of the quality directing, it's anything but. Although a little slow to get going, and a slightly domineering input from Cameron Diaz, this film really takes off and has plenty of brilliantly comical and heart-warming moments.
The best parts are taken by Kate Winslet, Jack Black and Jude Law, as you can't help but love thier characters - very well played. A few unexpected surprises are thrown in, but well placed within the story so it doesn't lose it's flow.
The only reason I give this a four star and not a five is that it may focus a little too much on Cameron Diaz and not enough on Kate Winslet as she has the far better side of the story (in other words I'm being really picky!!), however, this doesn't spoil it.
All in all, a real feel-good movie that leaves you with a nice big smile on your face! Well worth watching :o)
fantastic film
