When I saw the trailer I was immediately fascinated, and I actually thoroughly enjoyed this movie! It's original, and although it might be considered a bit childish, I think that a little magic is alway good for everyone! I found the actors and the perfomances they delivered very good, this film is easy, but it also contains many good messages. Absolutely worth watching!
It's magic

I thoroughly enjoyed this film! But I think a lot of people would find it a little dull. If you don't take it too seriously and enjoy Natalie Portman as much as I do, you'll love the magic in this film! Can't wait til it comes out!
bit muddled

i enjoyed this film, and its a good family entertainment, but it seemed muddled at times, it was not as good or as magical as i expected, but well worth watching, maybe buy it in the sales at a cheaper price than when its released.
'a joyfull family watch'

what do you say about this brilliantly presented 'family' film ?
'charming' 'humerous' 'magic' with a hint of 'sadness and joy' combined in it's finally.
'mr magnorium' ( dustin hoffman ) owns a 'magic' toy-shop where everything within appears to come to life.
his store manager 'molly' ( natalie portman ) and a 9 year old boy inter-act within this wonderous place.
'mr magnorium' is '234' years old, many years ago he bought several pairs of identical shoes, it had allways been his intention to leave this world when the last pair
wore out.
he has never paid tax, or kept 'books' as a record of sales, he hires an accountant to sort out the reciepts and value the shop before he departs.
the accountant does not observe the magic within the sore until the end.#
'mr magnorium' gifts the shop to his manager 'molly'
trouble is as he winds down his life the shop begins to die from within.
'mr magnorium' had given 'molly' a block of wood some while earlier, will she uncover it's powers before she has sold the shop ?
this is a really 'joyfull' watch, ( watched it last night on region 1 dvd ) wev'e been treated to some really good family films over the past 18 months or so, ths film is up there with the best of them.
a must for children of 'all' ages.
One of the best children's Christmas films we have seen!

Myself and two sons, aged 8 and 11, loved this film. Not a great fan of Dustin Hoffman, I was suprised how much I enjoyed it. Aswell as a magical effects delight, a touching story, dealing with the loss of precious people in our lives. Yet celebrating the joy they have brought us. A DVD MUST for Christmas 2008!
It was ok

I thought it was going to be a lot better than it was. I was looking forward to watching this, but a bit disapporting when I got there. I thought the story line could be a bit better. Its watchable, but i wouldn't watch it again.
lightly entertaining

it occupies a couple of hours with mild entertainment so if youve got nothing better to do you may aswell buy it you could do alot worse. young kids will probably love it theres a lot to entertain them with toys coming alive and a well played part by natalie portman. dustin hoffman slightly degrades himself, after some fantastic work in his other films, by putting on a stupid but funny accent and lisp, a good buy for young children but not even funny for older people.
