Passion, ambition, and treachery collide in this compelling drama about the early years of King Henry VIII's infamous 40-year reign. With a lust for power and an appetite for love, this young Monarch (Jonathan Rhys-Meyers) rules his kingdom as he lives his life - with ruthless abandon. Affairs of the state carry little interest for him, and official matters are left to the powerful Cardinal Thomas Wolsey (Sam Neill), while England's ruler tends to his own desires.
This engaging and thrilling drama also stars Natalie Dormer, Jeremy Northam and Gabrielle Anwar.

This was a truly wonderful series characters were well
and truly portrayed but there actor counterparts.
What matters that it was not maybe completely as true as
it could have been but it was wonderful and completely compelling and who can ever really say how accurate any history is

This is great drama I enjoyed it immensely, it was put together brilliantly both in script and production, also the casting was impressive. All that said this is not to be used for school history homework, not just because it can be a bit raunchy but the historical accuracy is way out, every now and again some fact comes into to play but most of it is fiction.
Buy this if you like well made, well scripted and well produced sexy drama, but if you you like your history to be accurate shy clear and watch the discovery channel.
"Why the 5 stars" i hear you say, "your slating the historical factor", well I'm giving it 5 stars quite simply because it is a drama not a documentary and as dramas go this one hits the mark.
Historical Balderdash......

No, No, No, Full of historical inaccuracies. Studied Henry VIII for 3 years at University, saw the screening on BBC, Hated it. I have given this 1 star for the musical score. Do they expect us to put this sort of DVD into our collection? Try, The Virgin Queen, Sorry...
