Obey the rules...
The Anthony Shaffer play, Sleuth, originally brought to the screen in 1972, gets the remake treatment in this updated version.
Michael Caine plays the role of the cuckholded murder-mystery writer and Jude Law plays the young aspiring actor who steals the literary giant's wife, only to find himself subsequently swallowed up in an elaborate revenge scheme.

If you enjoyed the original, stick with it. I only consider remakes if they add something to the story. This didn't. In fact it's nearly an hour shorter in length and the breadth and depth of the story is equally cut short. Avoid.
A real shame

I was really disappointed with this remake. I never understand why they remake absolute classics; With Michael Caine in the other role, however, I thought that this was warranted. The original is my favourite film of all time and with Caine and Larry on top form the remake had no chance.
There is one thing we learn from this film that may be useful in the future-Jude Law can't act.
