If you enjoyed the original, stick with it. I only consider remakes if they add something to the story. This didn't. In fact it's nearly an hour shorter in length and the breadth and depth of the story is equally cut short. Avoid.

I was really disappointed with this remake. I never understand why they remake absolute classics; With Michael Caine in the other role, however, I thought that this was warranted. The original is my favourite film of all time and with Caine and Larry on top form the remake had no chance.
There is one thing we learn from this film that may be useful in the future-Jude Law can't act.

Was gripped all the way through this film. Law and Caine are fantastic and I don't think I looked away from the screen once! Can't wait for the release!

You only have to glance at the poster here to get an idea of how misinducted this totally unwanted remake is. Caine and Law are at their absolute worst, and Brannagh seems to have taken a leave of absence all together.

Watching this is like giving birth to the fecal equivalent of a hammer head shark.
