The year is 2700 and the Earth is polluted, barren and exhausted. Wall-E is the last of a group of clean-up robots, sent to restore the Earth by lifting and compressing the endless quantities of rubbish left behind by a human race that has withdrawn to the safety of space.

Wall-E spends every day doing what he was made for on the lonely, silent Earth. His only companion is his trusty pet cockroach, Spot. But soon, he will discover what he was meant for as he chases his dream across the galaxy.

This film has a heart and a charm about it I cannot put in to words. The simplicity of the characters mixed with a very old style love story makes this, in my opinion, a delight of an animated story.

Wall-E himself is an easy character to empathise with, very much alone but still battling on and making the best of his situation. His rusty, weather beaten image contrasts wonderfully with the sleek and clean Eve, wo initially is just as sterile as her image would suggest. Wall-E's instant dedication to her is nothing short of sweet, and the fact they are both robots never becomes an issue against their romance.

Of course the sub-political message of how humans will gradually become completely dependant on technology is there, but it doesn't take over the film and in the end suggests man's resiliance to carry on. Wall-E remains the star but the humans still play a big enough part to not dedicate the film to one little robot.

I think if I were a young child parts of this film would bore me. The lack of speech however is probably what delights the youngest the most, while older children can appreciate the humour and adults can appreciate the romance.

One film can never appeal to everyone, and I know people who weren't too impressed by Wall-E, but I for one fell in love just as quick as the main character himself.

Great Film. Worst DVD packaging ever

What a great film, and the marketers have come up with a fantastic way of forcing you to buy this product over and over. The packaging that this comes in is, in my opinion, the worst I have ever seen. (and I have a huge DVD collection to compare it to) Taking a lead from our US cousins, Disney have decided to effectively package this in a cardboard envelope. No doubt after a weeks worth of use by the kids, resulting in ripped packaging and scratched DVD, I'm going to have to buy it again. The additional "tin" is'nt worth the additional £5 either.

     Excellent film

I generally enjoy all pixar films but this one was not another brainless entertainathon - it has a strong message put across in a gentle way. Wall-e is a lovable character and the animation is flawless - I don't see why people were getting bored - maybe they had to do a bit more thinking than usual at the movies!

Highly recommend this film and I can't wait to see it again.

     An amazing film for all

A few peoople I have spokent to say that they could only bare the first 10-15 minutes of the film, I assume mainly as they can't put up with a film if an explosion hasn't happened in the first 30 seconds. This is an amazing film that really can be enjoyed by anyone if they give it a chance. Unlike a lot of films there really is not a great amount of talking but what is there is well though out. The animation is superb and if you take the time to think about it there really is a stronge message in the story about the way we are all heading. A fantastic film,

This is pixars easily most ambitious undertaking since Toy Story with storytelling of such charm and visual wit that it can stand proudly alongside the studio's best. Cute and always touching this is absolute heaven.
