AN EPIC BATTLE THAT ENGULFS THE GALAXY AND SPANS THREE GENERATIONS....

ROBOTECH is a sweeping science-fiction anime epic of mankind defending its home world against alien domination. THE MACROSS SAGA tells of humanity's first contact with a secret alien technology following the crash-landing of a mysterious spacecraft on Earth. Project Robotech is set up to develop this alien technology leading to the creation of a vast arsenal of robotic spaceships. The Earth's flagship, the SD-1 and it's crew is sent out to discover where the alien ship came from leading to the invasion of Earth by the Zentraedi, an alien race intent on keeping the Robotechnology for themselves and destroying mankind in the process. The second part, The Master, deals with the descendent's of the first Robotech War. Humanity is once again facing destruction from an alien force. They send the SD-3 to attack The Masters, and while it travels out in hyperspace to their world, The Masters launch a surprise attack on Earth resulting in a devastating second war over a secret prize, Protoculture. It is not only The Masters that covet Protoculture. Someone else, even more deadly seeks it out too, The Invid. THE NEW GENERATION gives us a world controlled by The Invid. The SD-3 sends a probing force that is destroyed upon exiting hyperspace. A single survivor remains, a man taught to fight, with the will to free Earth. He forms a resistance with the goal of destroying The Invid hive at Reflux Point, aka New York.

ROBOTECH: THE COMPLETE SAGA contains all 85 digitally re-mastered episodes of the epic anime space opera.

All 3 series, all 85 episodes. As it was made in 1985 the characters and backgrounds might be considered simplistic by modern day anime standards but the animation still stands up pretty well, it can be a little grainy in places but i find it adds to its charm.

As for the audio the remastering has gone down pretty well, Dolby Digital 5.1 with drop-out being very rare, theres a clarity to it that wasnt there before or so ive convinced myself.

Theres over 35 hours of story here, i guess how much value you get out of it really depends on how big you are into anime and sci fi in general. i adore both and i love old 80s style animation, i cant say you'll think its the best thing ever but it is quite good and certainly worth a look at this price

 Epic

I grow up watching this so it brings back so many memory's I also love anime in general so that is a plus.
It might be old but it is one of the best saga's you will find, simple but well made and entertaining. I would also advice you to buy "robotech: the shadow chronicles" Its a continuation after season 3 ends, it also leave it open for another continuation altho no mention of there being another as of yet.

regardless 10/10

With some of the newer animes i think that it can be too easy to fall for good looks, using computers to create backgrounds etc can mean that while something is very pretty, there is little substance.
Here is an anime with a wonderful story. The characters are just so much fun to watch, as well as being nicely developed with back stories. There's a really good mixture of laughs along with the more serious stories.

While I will admit that the animation is not exactly amazing, considering this is from 1985 it stands up well, and there are still some battle sequences that remain impressive, especially considering that they were all hand drawn- no CGI help here!

The only reason I give it four stars instead of five is because of the cheesy narrator voice, though it's quite good for a laugh!
