I came across this film by accident on the net, and I am so glad I found it. I took a bit of a risk ordering it, because I always expect these films to be cynical or negative in some way. Thankfully, this was done beautifully. Dynamic sexual chemistry between the girl and the teacher. What did irritate me though was the character of Cat, they could have done without her I thought, never mind her usefulness for dramatic storytelling purposes, they didn't need her. It's the ending I have a bit of a problem with. I like th film a lot and am keeping it, but I end it before it finishes and the alternate ending was far better.
Why do these films always have to end on a negative note? It's either a tragedy or trouble with the law, and it's getting very boring and tedious. It doesn't say much for lesbian filmaking and it doesn't do the filmakers any favours. If it were a Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan film, they would end it much more positively and have the two women even stay together in the end, but because it's a lesbian film, it's almost saying, no, if you end up in a relationship like this, you're bound to get in trouble. Frankly, I'm surprised at the female director, I would've thought she would have used the other ending. That would've been better. It was a beautiful film apart from that. Sorry, but I just get fed up with these cynical endings.
