El Cantante is a biopic of salsa legend Hector Lavoe (Marc Anthony). The story of his rising career, but suffering personal life, is told from the perspective of Hectors wife Puchi (Jennifer Lopez). After the death of his son Hector Jr. and a constant battle with a drug addiction, Hector attempts to commit suicide but does not suceed and must try to accept the past and move on.
