Ignore the other two idiots who have done a review and said this is not funny (probably I.T people themselves and find jokes about micro switches and diodes funny??). This is TEN times better than the weak written first series. The addition of Matt Berry is a master stroke, he was Excellent in The Mighty Boosh and has not disappointed in this, although it has been to the loss of Chris Morris. There are many rememberable moments in this series, The time when Roy is wearing lipstick, to the Gay Musical and the funereal with the Vibrating phone! absolute classic!! buy this now! If you are not laughing out loud at the first episode (I'm disabled), you must lack any kind of humour.
Abra-cada-BRA... Priceless
Watched the first 4 episodes after loving the first series to bits, and raving about it to everyone. Series Two however most definately lost it's edge, and as I said I gave up after 4 episodes. To be fair, losing the Denim character was alkways going to be a big blow, he was the best part of the fantastic first series.
Overall quite poor
1st series of IT Crowd was a masterpiece and was the best thing on channel 4 until the 2nd series which was a big let down, 1st series i laughed out loud at every thing tht was funny, this series i just chuckled a little now and then, 2 chuckles per an episode, 1st series had 10 full on laugh out loud moments per an episode! I was very disapointed with this series, shame on the writers they let themselves down big time.
Well after watching all the new 6 episodes, I have to say that I was VERY disappointed with the whole new series. It has gone a completely different way from the first, introducing more 'blue' humour rather than IT humour. There was rarely any IT related humour in it which made the first series a good laugh. Most of the geeky humour was left to T-Shirts and things dotted around. Most of it was not in my taste, and the very fact that it was on Channel 4 at 22:00 says it all really. Hardly any in the office scenes, mostly out and about. Some good funny bits but these were few and far between. The last episode with Roy and Jen playing Guitar Hero on the PS2, and Moss and Roy mucking about when Jen isn't there was good. Richmond was kept, although a bit of an enigma, he added a different spin on things.
Mr Graham Linehan (writer and director) should have kept at least the majority of the 1st series jokes in there, he could have trawled the Internet to find IT related mishaps. If not I certainly could have given him some! It was a shame that Chris Morris didn't want to do the second series, so they killed him off. The new boss was an sexually over toned pervert with a thing for Jen, and it didn't work IMO.
It seems to be the norm that humour has to include sexual overtones, gay references, rather than good clean humour which made the first one funny.
If there ever is a 3rd series, please go back to the basics of the first.
I Agree with the previous poster, and rate this piece of work extremely highly and very amusing. I work in IT and I don't find the work vey humorous - so I think Mr Linehan has done exactly the right thing, by creating a mainstream comedy that just happens to be set in an IT Office. My wife thoroughly enjoyed this - and I was in tears during the 'Gay Play' and Roys Wheelchair stunt.
Curiously - the reviewer who wanted more IT references - found the last episode funny. I found it the weakest of the lot - but not enough to detract my enjoyment.
Honestly CPM / DOS Win 9x Blue Screen of Death, Linux OS- just ain't funny.
Bring on Series 3!!!!!! - and keep it mainstream Mr L.
