A few years ago Robson Green and the fat bloke out of some bank ads did a TV comedy about two guys competing to see who could create the fanciest Christmas lights display. It wasn't brilliant, but it was acceptable easy going entertainment. Now Hollywood have taken an OK premise and turned it into an unfunny sickly piece of work that wastes the time of everyone watching or acting in it. Strangely enough, after watching this it actually makes you yearn for Robson Green - shocking brainwashing.
Great Christmas Fun, a must!!!

I don't agree with any of the reviews that say this film is rubbish. I think it is a harmless feel good family christmas film. It is good fun and the 4 leads all work really well together particularly the wonderful Kristin Chenoweth as Tia Hall and as a plus we get to here her sing at the end.
Not one for the Christmas Collection

Against the reviews, I still bought this film in the hope that it would bring some festive fun to the holiday season. Unfortunately, even as a real Christmas movie nut, this film was, in alomst everyway, a complete dissappointment. Althought script can be blamed greatly for this film, Matthew Boderick brings 'bad acting' to a new dimension. I couldn't believe that the once great Ferris Bueller could produce such a poor performace. Do not buy this film. JT
Cant expect much...

As this is a Christmas film you can't expect much but a few festive jokes and some funny faces from Devito.
I think this film is more aimed at kids instead of adults. It is probably a film you could watch with a hangover and not pay much attention, but still have a small laugh at a few things.
Rent it at best, but I wouldnt bother buy - try Jingle all the Way or Surviving Christmas as they are much funnier and more Christmassy!
Worst film ever

The whole family was totally and utterly disappointed with this film and we only watched it to the end to see if we would get at least 1 laugh from it!

Everyone likes a good Christmas film at this time of year and I myself am no exception. Deck the Halls tries very hard to convince us it's a Comedy without ever really getting there or hitting the spot...Matthew Broderick plays a small town Mr Christmas only to be upstaged by a very small out of towner car salesman who just happens to move in opposite in the same street. Danny Devito tries hard to convince the audience he wants to be someone whilst Matthew Broderick fails miserably in his worst role to date...The only thing commendable about this show is the lighting display that Devito proudly exhibits to the public at large of his house. It would be fair to say that the trailer looked a lot better than the movie experience. A real Turkey not worthy of being remembered as a Christmas classic...Avoid
I have enjoyed this movie thou expected a little more. Good music tracks for Christmas makes it enjoyable.
Boring

What started of as a maybe fairly promising film turned out to be a horror show for the latter part, highly recommend watching this film around christmas as you might survive it due to the actual christmas spirit, however try any other time and a nightmare ensues..

Enjoyable
