The Doctor and a newly-regenerated Romana arrive on Skaro and discover that the Daleks are using explosive charges and a group of humanoid slave workers to mine the planet in search of their creator, Davros. A stalemate has arisen in an interplanetary war that the Daleks are waging against the robotic Movellans, and their hope is that Davros will be able to give them the edge.

An excellent story to release on DVD. Tom Baker does battle with the Daleks once again. His Doctor is so connected to the Daleks that it is amazing to think that this is only the second and last time that his incarnation of the Doctor actually encontered them.
Its an excellent stry though, robots fighting against robots, the new incarnation of Romana in the form of Lalla Ward. Quarries and the resurrection of Davros. An excellent classic Doctor Who story.

I'm very excited finally my all time favorite Doctor Who story is coming to DVD, with new special effects!!!!!
Can't wait!

The last story to involve their creative auther Terry Nation, Davros rises from the dead to face the dream team of Tom Baker and Lalla Ward while the Daleks are locked into a war with the disco aliens the Movellens headed by Sussanne Danellie
what more could a growing 9 year old boy wanted!

and not the good one.

All Doctor Who stories are better abled with Tom Baker on board IMO and this one is no exception, it has many good and impressive moments, and of course much that isn't, but as ever it's a bloody good romp and has everyones favourite 'monsters' The Daleks in it, with Davros thrown in for good measure. Also The Movellans, who resemble a '70s glitter band from outer space but do have a pretty nice spaceship with a novel self-burying feature.

As ever this DVD is much improved in entertainment value by the wonderful Doctor Who Restoration Team who do a marvelous job of cleaning it up, and there is one of those fun options to have all the highly dodgy video effects of the time vastly improved with a bit of tastefully done modern CGI.

You also get to see the rather odd Prime Computer ads the recently married Tom and Lalla made back then, never before seen in the UK, but they do look so happy together at the time!

 Tom's still the best!

A great Dalek/Doctor storyline that features the return of Dalek creator Davros. The gorgeous Lalla Ward is The Doctors' assistant here. One of the best and proves why Baker will always be THE BEST Doctor!!!And yes that includes you Mr Tennant.lol

Davros Returns in an Undemanding, but Entertaining Romp.

Davros returns for the first time in this story, which has an uncomplicated and straightforwardly entertaining plot. David Gooderson is no Michael Wisher, but he has a good stab at the role. The fact that his voice is untreated works against him. As I said, this is an undemanding watch and it would have been nice if the Doctor had sat down at some point and had another of his and Davros' 'Men of Science' chats; two genius' comparing notes. As it happens this is just an enjoyable romp, which is admittedly a bit silly in places humour-wise, Yes, it could have had much more weight to it, but there you go. It's done now. And it is still a watchable tale.
