So Close - But Yet So Far

It´s a shame shame shame that the Thin Lizzy organisation couldn´t come closer to the "real sound" of the show this time. This is a legendary performance that needs a proper mix from the original multitrack tapes and is far from living up to the legendary sound of the album Live and Dangerous. Somehow the real tapes most have disapeared, or not found??
*Almost all Lizzy DVDs on the market (eccept Thin Lizzy Greatest Hits) are "not official releases" because the Lizzy organisation lost all control after Phil Lynotts death, which is a terrible waste of this legendary band*.
The Dolby stereo mix is blurry and sometimes not worthy of this release. But the DTS 5.1 surround sound is okej and makes it worth buying. Of course the live pictures is better on this one than the VHS copy that was released on DVD in 2006. The extra bonus material need also a proper remastering to make me excited.
Great to see - bad to hear

its always gonna be great to see the lizzy lads at the top of their game like this, but the sound quality is so poor, which is insane because live and dangerous is the greatest live recorded album ever !!
interviews are great, top of the pops performances not so good, and the bonus gig isn't upto much.
its great viewing, and the camera angles are fantastic but missing off the best song of the gig - "rosalie-cowboy song" is just criminal,
like other people said, its just a shame because this could have been so much more, still a must have for any big Lizzy fan,
RIP Phil - still the greatest rocker around
Let down again......

Well another product from the Thin Lizzy camp and yet again another repeat,it always seem to be the same every time we hear of new Thin Lizzy product it is just stuff that was already on video, track listings are wrong sub standard sound, such a shame this could have been so much more, it was nice to see the boys on dvd but come on put something original out for once, feel like you ever been had if not you will.
Not all it seems .....

Not quite the Rainbow Gig in full, it's the same footage that was available before on VHS. 'Still In Love With You' is still mis-titled as 'Call On Me' after all these years.
Disappointingly the Hitchin '83 Gig is not in stereo.
More importantly the track 'Derby Blues' (Cowboy Song) is NOT on the bonus CD as advertised! A big selling-point for those who already have most of the material on offer. There are a lot of disappointed Thin Lizzy Fans out here.
Overall a decent package at the price but as always with Lizzy, it could have been so much better.
This is The One!

Yes - Here it is at last!!
The Rainbow 78 concert in full and if that's not enough the Live at Hitchin in 83 concert from the Thunder and Lighning warm up session pre-tour. These are the 2 concerts that show Lizzy at their best and have been waited for so long..
RIP Phil - This is how good you were and how you should be remebered. Shame on you others who have until now brought the inferior footage of shows and conned us with the fancy titles.
All Lizzy Fans will be delighted with this... A must
