The premise here is very simple, a hitman gets betrayed by the organisation who send him to kill a polical figure & the rest of the film centres around him to get revenge.

Timothy Olyphant quite frankly suits this role down to the ground, he has the look, the attitude (& even the walk!) of hitman, for those of you who remember the games premise that agent 47 wasnt exactly human you will appreciate what Olyphant is trying to do here, hes someone who was raised to kill & nothing more so basical social interaction isnt something he does (even more so with woman as we find out also) but as he becomes used to it he gets better & shows a more human side albeit not very much, people have said his performance wasnt very good, the words clunky have come about in reviews for some reason which is completely unfair.

The supporting cast is also very good & makes good use of what the are given, the budget means that special effects are limited but that doesnt stop this being an… more »

This fim is now listed for £5 which frankly is a bargain.

There doesn't seem to be many people out there that were critically impressed with Hitman, but I'll happily join the minority who enjoyed it.
Any film that is adapted from a game is starting off at a disadvantage as there is a perceived idea that it will be a cash in and little else. However there are always exceptions to the rule and this would appear to be one of them.
It's a thin story of a trained assassin being double crossed and seeking revenge and closure, but Timothy Oliphant manages to portray the figure of the outsider who can only participate in life in terms of hits/contracts in an engaging fashion.
Some claim his part is clunky and confused, but to my eyes that as the premise. Through his betrayal he has to participate in a life he has no skills in. Therefore there is a bit of the little boy lost in the character that is at odds to his ruthlessness as a killer.
All in all it carries enough weight to push through as one of the better efforts of the… more »
