Like most movies in this genre you need to keep your mind open, there's no way you can watch this movie thinking purely within the realms of reality.
The directing is done well but isn't stand out. The acting is strong with some good performances from the three main characters. The story is well written with some very intelligent twists and plot lines. There's no real holes in the script, its solid from start to finish and along with the directing and acting comes together to make a good movie.
My only dislike with the movie was the timing of it, at times it feels rushed and at others it feels to drag a little, but generally its a short movie at only 80mins.
Other than the small problem with timing Awake is a good movie and has a storyline like no other I've seen before.
The twists in the movie are affective and unpredictable, making it one of the better movies in the genre. It's all put together well and makes a movie worthy of most DVD collections.

I had heard poor reviews and the trailer hadn't ever really made it seem that good but when I finally got around to seeing from a friends DVD I actually quite liked it.
Overall, the story and the final truth about what's going on is pretty contrived if you stop and think about it but it's not really a long film so gets going quite quickly with a couple of well handled twists delivered along the way, even though some folks will see them coming.
Most of the cast are pretty good (Alba, Howard and Lena Olin as the mother) but Christensen is a weak link and the film does end a little abruptly. Overall, it might not be something you'd want to watch over and over, but I think it's worth at least one viewing.
