Sometimes the things we can't change... End up changing us.
The Air I Breathe is based on an ancient Chinese proverb that breaks life down into four emotional cornerstones: happiness, pleasure, sorrow and love.
Director Jieho Lee divides this vast tale into four threads, a timid businessman (Forest Whitaker) bets his life on a horse race after he discovers the fix he is in, a fragile pop star (Sarah Michelle Gellar) finds her management contract unexpectedly in jeopardy; a gangster (Brendan Fraser) who sees the future must decide whether or not to follow his visions, and a doctor (Kevin Bacon) tries to save the love of his life from a deadly injury. A common thread weaves its way through the lives of these characters: the ruthless crime boss Fingers (Andy Garcia).

after first hearing about this movie i was expecting an oscar worthy film of crash/ babel themes. after watching the film i thought that the start of the movie was rather confusing and lacking focus but after the story moved to brendan frasier, sarah michelle gellar and andy garcia's characters i was gripped on the raw and powerful emotions on screen mainly from sarah michelle gellar and brendan frasier. i can not wait for this dvd and hope it does well as it could suprise alot of people highly recommended

This 'Crash' type style movie seemed to tie all characters in the one story in a poetically poignant way. It deals with some very strong emotions- which all actors (Sarah Michelle Gellar, Brendon Fraser inparticular) achieved beyond expectation. This is, in my opinion, a very under rated drama which should have got a wide-release in cinema. But not to worry- as soon enough- it will be released on dvd to watch countless times. With type of movie- i have the feeling that you will find out something new each time you want it- so the film won't grow old in your collection for a long while.
