Raising three young daughters single handedly and juggling the problems of America as a respected advice columnist, Dan Burns (Steve Carrell - The 40 Year Old Virgin, Get Smart) would be the perfect father, if only he could follow his own advice.
Dan In Real Life is the true definition of a feel good comedy and features a brilliant ensemble cast that also includes Juliette Binoche (Chocolat, The English Patient), Dane Cook (Good Luck Chuck), Emily Blunt (The Devil Wears Prada), Dianne Wiest (Parenthood) and John Mahoney (TV's Frasier).

Understated and lovely

This is a great movie. The plot is too easy and too cheesy but this movie is liftet through it's characters. Steve Carell is amazing as the single father, and Juliet Binoche has an international quality that goes very well with the part she's playing.
I found it very funny, but it is subtle comedy, so it might not be for everybody. Highly recomended.
Slush fest

I'm a big fan of Steve Carrell and he was great in this film, really capturing the downtrodden character of Dan and Juliette Binoche makes an interesting love interest.
The first half of the film is quite funny and I quite enjoyed it, although the soppy family scenes got worse towards the end and personally made me cringe (and not in a good way like when watching The Office). What started as a quirky and funny film became overly slushy and predictable.
dissappointing

i found this utterly dissappointing to be honest.
i expected more, and other than the sensational soundtrack, it has nothing to offer.
i struggled to watch it and found myself turning on my laptop to do some coursework i had been hoping to avoid.
this book isnt worth its price tag, if your genuinely desperate to see it, i'd save your money, and wait till its in the bargain bin.
